I main Leona and Blitz. I mostly play support/tanky characters. When should I take armor and when should I take health. Should i take armor vs characters building AD and Health against characters building AP????

Thanks for the help

Usually what I do is see what the bot lane is. If their lots of poke, go armor first then health. If they're more "all in" kind of deal, or you're not getting poked down too much, go health then armor. FoM is always a good first but though, but on the situation, I might go Randuin's first. Both give health, but Randuin's gives armor.

Your must buys as a tank support are obviously:

  1. Face of the Mountain

  2. Boots of Mobility - Homeguard

  3. Sightstone (Recommended to upgrade to Ruby Sightstone if you have enough gold)

  4. Denepending on your team, Oracle's Lens is recommended, but I know when 3 of my team members had OL, I went with Greater Vision Totem instead.

Some really rare case items will be:

  1. Ohmwrecker. Honestly, I rarely, if ever buy this. It's honestly really useless on tanks. I don't recommend this unless you absolutely need it for some reason.

  2. Sunfire Cape. Usually other tanks will buy this, but you can if you want to be more offensive. I usually don't buy this because I try to build more tank/utility than tank/attack.

  3. Zeke's Herald. Honestly I've only built this once when our carries we're a bit behind and needed a little unf. Our other tank build the other utility items so I just bought this one.

Some common items are:

  1. Even if their whole team is AP, Randuin's Omen is recommended to slow the enemy team.

  2. Locket of the Iron Solari. For obvious reason you buy this. Aura magic resist and health regen for your team. Sheild.

  3. Banshee's Veil. Usually you'll get this is your going to be front lining and someone on their team is reliant on landing their first ability.

  4. Spirit Visage. You NEED to build this if you're against AP. Magic resist + Health + Health regen + CDR.

  5. Warmog's Armor. Usually a mid to late game item. Lots of health + percent health regen.

  6. Righteous Glory. You get health, health regen, and it's a really good engage item.

You should take armor when you're...well, there's never really a bad time for a support to get armor, unless there's like a double AP/Corki comp.

HP is always valuable too.

Now, there's a difference between the types of armor and HP items you should get (e.g. Locket, FH) and the kind you probably shouldn't (Thornmail).

If their teams carry is AD or their is is mostly AD, you DEFENENTLY want Thornmail. Especially if you're the only tank. You also want to split up the utility items with the other tanks on your team. Supports usually take Locket, while the top or JG tank will get Righteous Glory.
