New Season Ranked Provisionals odd Ranks

I think the provisional system is being real odd, last season I was in s5 dropped to b1-->2---> 3 to 5 and climbed to 3 again. The restart on the rank Provisionals began and I won 6 out of 10 games lost 4 times and I fall into bronze 4? Does this make any sense? other people had the same score as me and at least got gold 5 or silver. 2 of my other friends got bronze 5 and a silver 3 dropped to bronze 5 this makes no sense their skill lvl is way higher than that league.

Does anyone else think this is odd what was the point of this reset if it's a means to have a fresh start how do you define a player through this system.
