6.19 Aurelion Sol

I would like to have opinions on Aurelion Sol's current state. In 6.18 he was kind of owerpowered since anybody could "avoid" the laning phase, get the lv2 raptor-cheese, free backs and roams, but now his winrate dropped a lot and went from being the 3rd to the the 35th out of 49 midlane champions according to op.gg Sol is a champion whose 1v1s are really anwkard as your main source of dmg can be somewhat easily avoided in fighting scenarios, so outside of his full burst combo Q-R +2 or so W thinks (which is somewhat aroud 60% of a squishy's HP in a balanced mid-game scenarios) any other sort of DMG coming from W is situational (let's say skill-dependant) and while it's ok to let him be not a 1v1 kind of champions now if he's not ahead he just cannot breathe against most mid laners as he lacks the tool to damage 'em at all! Basically I'm saying that his dmg is waay too low early on for a champion that is not late game focused as your kit and AP ratios don't afford it, and you have a much more enjoyable early game on a hypercarry like GP and the nerfs on Sol were really (too much imo) heavy and you basically decided that between balancing Sol to be a fair experience to both parts and making him underpowered the latter was the best choice since his kit is hard to balance and he got the Azir treatment. I for sure have not mastered Sol at all and I was mediocre at him pre-nerfs, but now he is just too high skillcap champion for mediocre results, with an undefined role -he's basically a midlane support- and confusing powerspikes as his early AND late both kind of sucks now, and that's really a waste on such a cool champion as Sol.

None of this is true..He has an extremely strong laning phase because he can zone enemies out and keep autoattacking while getting extra damage from the stars with his W. He does great in 1v1s if he hits his Q, otherwise he has to back off like any other mage. He shouldn't be doing any kind of burst, he's a DPS champion. The only time he should use his R is for defense or to kill a running low health enemy. He has a different style than other champions because his main source of damage comes from his passive. He is not a support at all, not that much peel or utility. He's a DPS champions like Karthus Azir Cassiopeia . The only thing that isn't straightforward is his build since there's a lot of items that go well with him, all he really needs is item 3027 item 3116 His early game is strong, a couple W stars on the enemy laner and they're at half health. His lategame is great, since his stars will then do like half of the adc's health and if he has a liandry's he just demolishes tanks or bruisers. He's also one of the best midlane roamers in the game.

What have worked for me so far with A Sol is powerfarming his 3 item power spike (roa, mp boots, rylais). You really need those 3 to be usefull. In laning phase, i throw a Q in the minion wave and farm the rest with the W active, then go for a gank with E. You can do that every 2-3 waves with no problems. By doing so you can get decently fed without killing the opposing mid laner and get your side lanes ahead. Just make sure you have a pink somewhere near the river to not let the ennemy team knowing that youre roaming. In teamfights, i play in the front line (safely) just to try to bait 2-3 of the ennemies on me, then i ult + Q them and finish them with W and my team. It is very important to ult first then Q, because his ult will place them at the perfect range where the Q will pop and stun. Late game, when i start to level up my E, i play A Sol as a split pusher. At this point, you have pretty good range on his E, which allows you to join an imminent teamfight quickly. A Sol is still a strong champion, but his skill floor is quite high. He takes quite some time to learn and be good at, but i think it's worth it. I remember my first games where i coudnt help dying over 12 times. Don't give up! Also i like to have flash-heal most of the times, maybe flash-barrier, but heal is my go to. Don't forget to not use it while youre ignited.

Edit : if played correctly, the late-game is where A Sol shines. Plus his recent tweaks were a nerf for his early game, but definitely a buff for his late game

I as a main have been asked why i play Aurelion these past weeks. Because Aurelion now cant show to be able to do anything. Even if i push the wave inn and roam the enemy midlaner can easy counter it and damage the tower and when i do roam i end up trying to help bot lane but cant help sekure both or just one of the kills because my damage is really low. Early and even mid game i feel like enemis can kind of ignor my stars because they dont hurt enought. And his W is kind of his only defense keeping enemis to think twise befor going inn. Now they dont have too. Because they know i cant do the damage to kill them even when i use my full burst its hard. I feel like moving away from playing Sol there no meaning in playing him anomore really. I dont feel like i can do a differense. And he is as many would say kind of useless.
