Flex Queue Matchmaking Uses Solo/DuoQ MMR?

Hey Guys,

All I'm looking for is an explanation on my current matchmaking situation.

I was Plat 4 - 75 LP when the season ended. When flex queue came out I did not play until it was supposedly "fixed". Then I played all of my 10 placement games duoing with my diamond 5 friend. We played against diamonds and plats for a majority of the placement games. After placements I was placed in silver 2 (7W-3L) and he was placed in gold 1. I was ok with this, riot explained that it was normal to be placed 2 tiers lower than your last season ranked.

After getting placed, I continued playing flex queue to help my two other friends get placed. They were both gold 1 for season 6, and after placements one got placed in plat 3, and the other gold 1. While I am sitting in silver 2 with a higher MMR. Normally I wouldn't be upset with the placements because I know I can climb out of a lower rank. But when playing flex queue I am being matched with plats and an occasional diamond player. After checking my teammates and the enemies op.gg accounts, I see that both their solo/duo and flex ranks are at least gold 1 or higher. I feel like this is unfair towards me as I have to play against higher ranked people just to rank up my silver account.

Again, I am not looking to rant about riot or etc. I am looking for an explanation on why this situation is occurring. Was it because I played my placements with my diamond friend? Or was it because I played flex queue to early and ended up with bad luck? Also is this happening to anyone else? Cans you feels my pains. I have linked my op.gg account for you to fact check and see.
