144hz or Ultrawide Monitor?

Pathetic Apes··1 votes·5,506 views

Hello everyone, I am thinking of buying a new monitor. I am between 144hz or Ultrawide. What would you suggest to me? Does 144hz has so much difference in LoL as in fps or not? My Budget is around 250. Thank you for your time!

The main hardware will be Ryzen 2600 with Gtx 1060 or a gtx 1070. I have not decided yet. But i dont think that 144 fps is a hard target on LoL to be honest.

What hardware do you have? 144 fps is a hard target to reach on a lot of systems, even in LoL. The benefit of higher framerate is pretty minimal. It helps, but it wont make much difference unless you are already extremely good.

A 2560x1080 75Hz gives you a bigger field of view, which will be a huge help, especially for long-range champs.

Almost all of the LG 60Hz ultrawides overclock to 75Hz with no difficulties, as they use the same hardware.

LOL you serious? I had 150+ fps on League with a fuckin GTX 750 on highest settings

League is a low-spec game by design

Yes, i am serious.

You cant imagine how many people are playing this on an iGPU, or some shit like a 3Ghz Athlon, one stick of DDR3-1333 and a GT 640.

And how many more just run it on the iGPU of an i3-2100.

That is mostly why LoL has been popular so for long, especially in Asia and developing countries like Brazil. It runs on low-end crap from 5+ years ago.

Old post but he was referring to the monitor's refresh rate, not fps.

I have a 1ms, 144hz, 1920x1080p, Asus monitor that is perfect for me. I dont hate larger monitors but anything over 30 inches is a little too much for me. here is the monitor that I have -

Thank you for your answer. May i ask you if the 144hz does have a big difference than 60hz especially in LoL? This is why i haven't purchase a monitor yet.

144 hz makes a huge difference.

I know that it makes a huge difference but even on LoL though?

Yes, any game where being able to react faster is an advantage makes 144 hz worth it, and League is no exception.

Like the Unicorns said, it makes a massive difference. In any single game that requires a good reaction time for anything, 144hz is 100% better in every scenario. Especially in FPS games, if you play any. The difference between my old monitor (was a 60hz monitor) and my new one (the 144hz monitor) is tremendous when I play Ghost Recon Wildlands, Rainbow Six Siege and CSGO. I would highly recommend going with the 144hz monitor. Doesn't have to be the one I have because of course it is up to the person using it and what they want, but this monitor is excellent for what it costs. If you do decide to get this monitor or one similar, make sure to check and look at what settings the monitor comes with and other customer's reviews because sometimes the monitor will not come with the best picture quality out of the box. For instance the monitor I had needed to be tweaked to have the best picture quality. If you have any more questions, ask away :)

Thank you for your answer. So, you have tried 144hz and it does make a noticible difference in LoL. What about an ultrawide? Have you tried it before? Is it worth the extra space that you can see? Sorry if iam being too tired to you.

There is a massive difference between the 144hz versus the 60hz. I have never used an ultra wide, but I dislike ultra wide monitors so I don't think my opinion matters. If you want to get an ultra wide, go for it, it is your choice. If it helps with League specifically, I am unsure but I wouldn't get one myself, but it is all personal preference. I don't mind answering questions, it makes me feel better knowing people are asking before dropping hundreds of dollars on shit that doesn't match their expectations. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

some people say it makes a huge difference... i say it doesn't...

i have 2 monitors.. one 60hz... one 144hz... i literally see no difference at all.. and yes the 144 one IS displaying at 144Hz. its NOT set to 60

some people think they make a huge difference.. other people like myself... cant see ANY difference at all.

before u buy one i recommend going to a store like fry's and looking at them to see fi YOU can actually see a difference. ' because personally.. i wouldn't not buy another 144 hz monitor because of how much more they cost... and i cant see a damn difference.

even if i put a video to display half on one screen and half on the other... no difference at all.

and i frequently use and look at both monitors... i woudl look at the in person before u commit to buying a 144hz..

lowering your ping by 10 ms will make a 100x bigger difference than a 144 monitor
