Umbral glaive is broken in terms of vision control and gives an unfair advantage to some supports

The item doesnt seem broken because it's not a one shot item for carries, but its broken in terms of vision control. Revealing wards and one shooting them with autos (even for ranged, even the ones revealed by sweepers, not even just the item passive) is absolutely crazy. Im a long time enchanter main but I've been playing a lot of senna and pyke (and even ad miss fortune support just to prove a point of how good the item is) and it's just insane how much vision control you get with the item, you can clear one side of river and all its bushes top to bottom with one sweeper. meanwhile as an enchanter you struggle to kill two wards that you revealed and you rely on teammates and ardent to kill more. And dont even get me started on playing a support that cant buy umbral glaive versus an umbral glaive support. Might as well sell the warding item since your wards are completely worthless vs them

It really seems unfair and its just yet another thing in which enchanters were left behind in this bot lane rebalancing. HOWEVER, am I asking for the item to be nerfed? No, it's an amazingly designed item that ad supports need as a strong first option. What I think should happen is other support classes get access to the blackout passive. My suggestion is only for the enchanters blackout item because I dont play enough tank supports to speak for them. Ideally it would build from forbidden idol and a tome, give 10% h/s power, mana regen, very little ap and just the blackout passive. It would still be bad to rush it as opposed to umbral glaive which is a must first buy, but at least we could get it mid game to catch up in vision control.

I think blackout should be removed from everything. Vision has been nerfed for so long and it’s frustrating when a jungler can disable and one shot your ward so you don’t even know if he is gonna gank. You are forced to retreat and lose cs and xp simply because the jungler might be there.

Yeah, this item is totally broken. I have played on different accounts since season 1, but this is the first item I am unable to accept as a main support.

One time, when I was playing as support, the enemy support (Pyke Pyke) had Umbral Glaive and Sweepers. item 3179 item 3364 Our team was losing, and everytime I tried to put some vision on our jungle, Pyke just needed to pass and sweep all my vision in less than 5 seconds. I couldn't stop recalling to the fountain to get more wards, and everytime I put more vision, Pyke cleaned all my wards in one instant. I COULDN'T EVEN LEAVE THE DAMN BASE FOR A WHOLE 5 MINUTES IN LATE GAME! All because of the combination of Umbral Glaive and Sweepers. Those things have like 45-60seg cooldown by themselves, but together, if used alternative, you can have them every 25-30 secs. And you can clear wards in ONE HIT WITH BOTH.

It's already really hard to turn a game around when you're losing, but now, it's almost impossible to do it when you have no vision on your side of the map! Riot, is this what you want!? Good grief. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

hard agree. why riot gives this item for a few specific supports but not everyone else... i have no idea. but it really sucks being a nami having to stand still using 3 aa while a pyke can go 29352 mph one shotting all the wards

Honestly I like the dichotomy. What I would rather is first that it not insta kill for range. That's just nutty no matter what.

Additionally, I would like an item for enchanters that just let us get more wards and place them are a greater range tbh.

As someone else said, it's bad enough with 0 vision already, we dont need to accentuate the problem.
