What gold gen item to use on Thresh?

I personally dislike Thresh. But when the team comp demands a sup tank (and Braum doesn't look like a good fit), I'll play him. But the preseason changes have me wondering what gold gen item I'm supposed to use in low rank elo with Thresh now?

I never went with relic shield before because at low elos it's rare to find ADC's that let you execute minions even when playing melee champs. I can't imagine trying to do it without the free execute.

So I usually went coin instead. The sustain and movement speed passive/active were useful and the gold gen was pretty decent. But with the nerf to the gold gen and removal of the passive movement speed, it seems much less appealing now.

Is coin still viable despite the nerf? Or should I just be happy that the relic shield now has passive gold gen, so it's not like I won't be getting any gold from it?

supp main: relic for lane, swap later in the game for coin if you want the upgraded active. However, it is situational if you get the active or not. I usually only do it when we lack engage.

I just recently picked up tresh and I've been using the relic shield and building it into the sightstone for Eye of xxxxxx. It works out pretty well for me. As far as the ADC issue with the last hits......I try to wait for the max damage from flay to be ready for my next auto attack and then I go for he most gold efficient minion at the time. Another tip would be to position yourself in order to get a cs that the adc will miss.

All of this depends on synergy with your ADC, which can be a daunting task at low elo because ADC's normally don't understand how relic works. Can't tell you go many times I hear "Why are you taking me CS, you are the support moron!" SMH..... I wish more ADC's were aware of this item and how to effectively lane with a support using it.

Outside of that item...... Boots of mobility/merc treads/tabi etc depending on enemy comp. Then depending on what their AD to AP ratio is......I'll build a magic res item or armor res.

I was skeptical of playing him at first, but now I love him. Best of luck to you mate! [slayer-jinx-catface]

I can't get the relic shield to work for me. More often than not it results in my ADC missing the cs.

I just grab coin from the getgo and do much better. Talisman still has one of the best actives (imo) so I still grab it 90% of the time.

Definitely relic. If someone has a hissy fit because you're executing minions then just ignore them.

If you're in the market for a new tank support then I recommend Leona. Outstanding fight initiation and peeling, one of my favorites.

Relic has sustain, but I like coin for the mana regen, cdr and the active

Thresh is everything and has everything.

If youa re not satisfied with either, you could try Spellthief for a change.

He is ranged, so he can poke and all his abilities, including his shield scale from AP.
