Anivia's Q

So I just now bought Anivia and when I was playing with her first time the only thing I can do with her Q was land it at max range. I watched some youtube videos and people make it land where they want. So I went back in game to see how I can fix it and I've come wiht no solution. Does anybody know how to fix the Q?

You just press Q again to make it explode mid flight. Is it not doing that?

Although you'll find it's one of the buggiest skillshots in the game. "Enemy is clearly in the circle, should totally have the debuff, and should totally get stunned" Nooppoppe.
