Consistency...

I'm a big fan of things being consistent, organized and balanced. Some of the recent changes affected a favorite champion of mine, Ahri. RIOT came up with this idea that CC shouldn't be unique, and shouldn't do things other CCs don't. Charm not only is movement impairing, but cancels dashes, and taunts the target. Now about that consistency.... If Ahri can't have unique CC, then to be "consistent" we need to change...

Lulu - Polymorph (Too unique, nobody else has a morph, and it does multiple things) Tahm Kench - Devour (Too unique, nobody else can eat a champion and transport it, it shouldn't do multiple things) Urgot - Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser (Shouldn't do multiple things, suppress and movement) Bard - Tempered Fate (Too unique, nobody else can force stasis, it also does multiple things, stops channels, technically stun, stops movement) Amumu - Bandage Toss (Too unique, even if it's uniquely weak, nobody else has an entangle (just a bad version of snare)) Kassadin - Null Sphere (Too unique, it doesn't technically have a CC, but its the only targeted non-CC skill that interrupts, needs to be consistent)

I'm sure I missed a few "unique" crowd control abilities.

Patch 6.4 Notes -> "it’s the fact that it’s on Ahri’s kit that we get into issues."; If it's the case that Charms previous CC didn't fit into her kit, then we have to disable Jihn immediately. He's a higher damage carry than Ahri, has comparable mobility, has 10 times more range, and has more CC that's even easier to land than charm. The statement "it’s the fact that it’s on Ahri’s kit that we get into issues." is probably just a mis-translation by the guy who writes the notes, and the guy who designs them. It doesn't even end at Jihn either. I'm also a Leblanc main, and she's got more CC, more damage, more mobility and certainly WAY more pick potential. I'm sure the list goes on, so please clarify, for CLARITY's sake, the changes you make.

I'm not looking to rant here, I know balance is a hard thing, especially with so many champions. I just want a little clarity, you know? Tell me changes to other unique CC are down the road, tell me "the real reason" you change champions, not blurt out some random statement like "it’s the fact that it’s on [insert champion]'s kit that we get into issues." that tells me exactly 0 reasons why you made the decision.

I'm concerned you're about to significantly change one of the few reasons I still play, and it's worth my time to understand why, and hopefully offer my input. FOR EXAMPLE: If you don't want her to have hard CC, then you're going to have to increase her ultimate mobility. Her Q alone isn't enough to get you safely out of a gank. Ahri's ult cooldown is very long for what it does, and her range is pretty abysmal, so anytime you have to use your ult to escape, you feel useless and vulnerable when going back to lane when you know the other guy and his jungler both have their ults back before you. Theres a million things you can digest with even a simple change like making charm useless in a gank scenario. It almost feels like you want to make ahri a backline mage.... with like 800 range... If you really do, let us know! I'm sure we can make suggestions for that too.

I don't think you're a bunch of monkeys on a typewriter, that make random changes and are doing your best to explain how they make sense until you write a novel, I just think you're trying to nerf/change a champion without upsetting a million Ahri mains. As an Ahri main, even if you want to change her, myself, and probably every other main out there, want to help you. If you explicitly lay out your design intention we would be happy to tell you how to best change her and keep her strong, and hopefully ("un-baised-ly") balanced.

Whatd'ya think community? Fair assessment?

TLDR; Clarity > All, Ahri change doesn't make sense, want the truth, and if you're going to change her, be honest and clear about your intentions (not "it’s the fact that it’s on Ahri’s kit that we get into issues.") so Ahri mains can make suggestions. (This should go for any champion)

Read the whole thing, I agree.

Problem is no one here will. They join a game, see they are against Ahri, go to lolcounter and pick some stupid champ they've never played before because its a "counter." then run to the forums and cry that she is OP. because they are retarded and feed, then are amazed that the 16/0 arhi kills them in 1 combo.

Then riot, because they are also stupid, sees that she has a higher win rate than their sales plan allows, and nerfs her to shit for no logical reason. When people stop playing her, they'll release a new skin, and give her some meaningless buffs to cycle her forward on the sales list. Similar to what CostCo does to increase their sales numbers.

This is something i've complained about for months. The game is FULL of hidden mechanics and exceptions to their own rules. They then use them as justifications for nerfing champions later. Like Xin. his 3rd hit is NOT a life steal, therefore it should work on towers, but becuase riot is inconsistent they nerf him so that it works on everything BUT towers. So it behaves like a lifesteal except provides no damage for the effect.

Youre going to get an onslaught of down votes by people who read the title only and vote.

Damn, I get the whole business thing, but aren't they big enough at this point to do what's best for the game not their wallets?

When the time comes that a real multiplayer game is released, people will need a reason to keep playing. Who wants to come back to a game that they remember the company making changes for money rather than the integrity of the game? Obviously I've noticed pretty inconsistent changes over the years, and maybe early on in their venture they needed to "sell out". With their success now, I assumed they would transition into "A game for the players".

I'm still hopeful that comes true...
