Proposed Change to Poacher's Knife #strategicdiversity

I don't have any concrete values or numbers, just a general concept.

At the moment, Poacher's Knife is the de facto counter-jungling item. Very simple, go in the jungler, kill something, extra gold, run away fast. Great right? Only problem is that just in buying poacher's knife, you telegraph to everyone in the game that you are dedicating your time to running into their jungle. This makes sneaking around and avoiding confrontation really hard. What makes it even worse is that other items do the job just as well while also providing advantages elsewhere. Ranger's allows you to clear camps quickly while giving you back health, whether or not you are in your jungle or the enemy's. Stalker's active is just as good as escaping a pursuer as poacher's ms boost, on top of helping your ganks. My proposed change is to make Poacher's a "farming item" instead of a "counter-jungling item." Give it some sort of benefit for farming in your own jungle. It could be a weaker MS boost or more gold per monster. That way when you buy it, the enemy team doesn't immediately know that you are specifically counter-jungling.

Well... back in my day, you could switch jungle items for free! Allowing you to buy one item, and trick your opponent with it. Then you could go back to base, switch to Poacher's, and carefully sneak into the enemy jungle without letting anyone see you. (or your shiny new toy :)

item 3070 ...But alas... item 3070

While that would help, it didn't change the fact that poacher's (and both Skirimisher's) offered so few options compared to the other two. Buying Poacher's came with this weird requirement; where you felt you had to take x amount of enemy camps to make it worthwhile. If you didn't then you might as well have gotten something else.
