I am genuinely curious, why are league players so in love with Riot?

I ask this because I recently got permabanned for being toxic and decided to browse forum posts of other people who have been permabanned. One thing that I find interesting is the weird cultish attitude I see in the people who post on the forums. If there is any post showing absolutely any sort of unfavourablity towards Riot, it will receive numerous down votes. I've seen this happen time and time again. Then someone else will come along and say something in favor of Riot and that post will receive many up votes, even if it doesn't logically make sense. It's like the players revere Riot as gods that only let them play their amazing game out of kindness.

This sort of attitude also shows up in the actual ownership of the accounts, where apparently we don't even own "our" accounts, Riot does. It seems like a tactic Riot has sneakily put into the terms of use, knowing 99.9% of players will not read them, giving them the legal power to deny a refund to any one not willing or not able to use the content we paid for. For a company making billions of dollars annually, it seems a pretty scummy thing to do.

I don't want to play League anymore, I am actually quite happy that I have been banned. However seeing as how I am unable to put the services I PAID FOR to any good use, I would like my money back so I can spend it on something worthwhile.

I'm curious why you feel anyone should side with someone that apparently can't properly use a chat system. It's not hard to avoid being banned by an automated system that screens your chat logs.

What do you mean, have you not read ANY QQ thread at all, which is like, 80% of the content on the League forums?

People only ever get massively downvoted for speaking anything to Riot and/or their associate when they are legitimately insulting or even wishing ill of them. In that case they are not downvoted and smacked because they said things to Riot, but because they've behaved like a rotten human being.

Also, what's so strange about Riot owning your account? It's the same for afaik most to all online services, extending to irl things like rents. What's so exclusive and bad about that in Riot?

Not to mention, there is no such thing as "refund after I'm blacklisted". Ask any businesses, it doesn't work like that.

Where you hit in the head as a child? The forum has a constant supply of hate for Riot and their balance changes and redesigns. You've got to be blind not to see that.

Sure, there's also positivity out there but it feels like the vast majority is just QQ topics.

As opposed to the legal ramifications that come with players owning their accounts?

It is a scum thing to do, but the alternative might just be unworkable. (Or funny enough, not make any difference.)

When it comes to player behavior, you're right, there's a lot of defense of Riot and their systems. It's largely because Riot's only ask in terms of sportsmanship is to not be a dick. It's really quite simple, and the vast majority of players have it figured out. When somebody can't refrain from being a dick, it's hard to have remorse.

And this whole thing of Riot owning your account and not you is not some sneaky tactic, it's commonplace with any online game or account you own.
