Are AHK Scritps (Macros) allowed in LoL?

Nuda··1 votes·7,966 views

I was wondering if Macros were allowed to be used in LoL. By macros I mean AHK scripts that will write things out for me. For example, instead of having to type out "MIA Mid" or whatever lane, I could just press one key like "u" and it would type MIA Mid out for me. Is this considered third party exploiting or would this be allowed? Sorry if this is the wrong section, the only section with help in the title is about technical difficulties so I wasn't really sure on where to put this.

Disclaimer: I have not done this yet, I am just wondering.

i wouldn't expect them to be illegal. as far as i know unless it's a program actually modifying the client or packets to give you an advantage, it's fine. i mean that's something any gaming keyboard or mouse can do. i've played around with wardjumping macros in the past using razor, and i know people use them. i'd still be using it, if it didn't actually hurt more than it helped me. don't see how this would be any worse.

Alright, seems fair enough. So, going further, having a macro that uses two skills for you would be allowed? For example, if I am playing Braum and I want to "W" to an ally, would a Macro that activates my "E" when I use "W" be allowed?

Gripex apparently macros his ward hops, but I wouldn't recommend this, as it may be considered cheating by riot.

Depends.

If the macro comes from your keyboard and is essentially:

  • Press W.
  • Press E 0.5 seconds later.

then it should be allowed. If it is more than that, for example by automatically choosing the direction of E, then it is not allowed.

The Terms and Conditions say no 3rd party anything that affects gameplay, and Riot will say the same. So no, you're not allowed.

Will you get banned or caught? Probably not. You're not really affecting anyone but yourself. But it's not allowed.

please. if that was the case, anybody using a razer product (synapse) would be banned. those keybindings for chat and such do not alter game play or any communication.

J. Using any unauthorized third party programs, including but not limited to "mods," "hacks," "cheats," "scripts," "bots," "trainers," and automation programs,** that interact with the Software in any way, for any purpose, including, without limitation, any unauthorized third party programs that intercept, emulate, or redirect any communication between the Software and Riot Games and any unauthorized third party programs that collect information about the Game by reading areas of memory used by the Software to store information; **

a macro for chat isn't doing any of that.

I didn't say they'd get banned; in fact, I specifically said "probably not". It's against the rules to use chat macros, but it's like how jaywalking is against the law. Will you get arrested(banned) for it? Only if a police officer really has it in for you...

Also, that passage is in legalese. Where it says "including", they're not saying all the programs they're prohibiting are in the list they're specifying as included, they're saying that all the ones they're specifying are prohibited, and implying that anything else they feel like could be prohibited too. It's a typical legal catchall so Riot can basically just decide case by case what's prohibited and what's not.

They are not 100% allowed just like skyp curse voice razor coms etc

because there r to many and leage doesnt have partnership.with them neither can they check the entire list of 3th party to see wich one r allowed

your never gonne get banned for using one do

it also doeant rlly give u an advantage sure you could fast typ lets ward around baron for vission controll

Or somethinf but your team still have to actually read it wich seems the biggest problem in lol vommuinication to me ? So teamspeak would still give u a bigger advantage

i'm not gonna speak for reds as far as macros go, but ill tell you lots of people use them. you can find plenty of tutorial videos on youtube and on forums with how to set them up. the old ward hop one i tried out i got off the old boards like a year or so ago, the thread was never closed and no mod ever said anything about it being illegal.

Vesarixx1 votes

Yeah I think you can do that, tried it once with one key to type warded in chat, but it bugged out and sometimes ended up wasting W, ult and flash just trying to tell my team a brush was warded, so I don't use that anymore.

They should really just add a "warded" ping

TL;DR: Press enter to type.

the macro had the enter key in it, I hit it, it opens chat, types warded, closes chat and ping the map wherever my cursor was. Except when it didn't

RIP then lol.

I am not sure about its legality.

But macros are banned in league tourneys I think.

I really want Riot to answer this question b/c I'm super slow and want to use this to ward hop when playing lee. My hands already hurt from programming, but that is not going to stop me from playing L.O.L.. I don't want to lose my account/champion pool b/c of it though. Will using autohotkey get me banned?
