So much damage in the game now

Introduction

In the following I am going to share my thoughts regarding the before- and now changes to the game. 2015 - 2016. I´m doing this in the hopes of getting some sort of understanding, as I haven't been able to find any post as of yet, that has my content of discussion. Also it is important to notice the content of this post is based on my main role experience as marksman/adc.

1. My experience with the game before patch 2. My experience with the game after patch

1. My experience with the game before patch

Looking back in retro-perspective patch (Jugger-naught, Graves changes etc.), it is important not to glance at the past being all that perfect. However, my experience with the game being a marksman/adc was pleasurable.

I personally love the mental game that was going on between 4 players in bottom lane or any lane, punishing each other over small mistakes, bringing the game into a dominance over the player in mind than it maybe was in skill always. The first few minutes was all about trying to figure out the playstyle of that player. Loved that experience of the game. The game made room for small/some mistakes, but surely you would be punished for them.

Certain marksman/adc where build for certain mashup´s. Great aspect of the game. Is enemy team heavy on tanks? You knew certain setup´s or a specific champion would be great for that team fight. Vice versa, certain roles where better for other mashup´s.

At no point in the game was I feeling disappointed with its game design. Surely I could cry over people on my team for being a feeder, leaving the game if it wasn't in their favour , trolls, bad team composition, bad calls in game, awful mistakes, suicides etc - But all of this was part of the game that I knew was very hard to deal with for RIOT as well. I was more frustrated with the player than the game actually. Sure you could want some more strict punishment than the “cross-off bad behavior drop down table”. It is too monotone and to be honest, I couldn't care less about it. I wanted to see an immediate punishment for bad behavior given by the team if someone really crossed the line. To hell with the “Oh, you just wait and see mister! Someone out there, will understand our frustration”. it felt stupid.

Some of the reports of bad behavior have been listed as: You will get a chat-restriction, followed by a 10 minute queue delay of each game for a certain number of games… leading to more strict bans i'm guessing” - Seriously? That is the most politically correct system you can have, which is why it doesn't work in a pleasurable way for the player honoring the game. If someone crosses the line, I wanna be able to punish the player in the game and letting the world know he/she is a no good. Much like how the real world works…

My thoughts regarding the before, was as stated; pleasurable, with of course some modifications to the game. There was plenty of times i took it out on the game itself than actually really acknowledging my own mistakes.

2. My experience with the game after patch

WOW! This is insane. How fast is this game going? Can it be any faster? - Oh, wait… Yes it can actually… In the success of achieving a game with a much faster snowball effect, RIOT has succeded big time I would say. However, I was suddenly feeling an indifference to my role, my champion pool. Everything I was doing was more or less obsolete it felt. That is bound to bring some frustration to the game, i'm sure. However I wouldn't judge the changes to the game that fast. After all, i've experienced changes in games before that was intended good; like going from “The burning crusade in World of Warcraft to the many great expansions….”

So here I was playing the new patch. Trying to understand why I felt so little for the game. In short, I felt indifferent to my team. I felt the impact I was doing, despite how great my cs and short stomp was, it did not matter anymore. Playing a perfect lane pushing enemy team down behind their tower, punishing their marksman/adc in creeps, zoning them out giving my lane maximum control. And then… One hit from their “SUPPORT”, their support? I mean their fucking support? Are-you-fucking-kidding-me-it-is-their-support? Followed by a leap in from their adc; dead.

I mean dead. That was it. Dead, and I will say it again. Dead. I was dead. This experience happened in every game(100) over and over again and I was trying to tell myself as an upcoming mangina, that maybe the game was trying to punish you even harder on your slight mistakes. Right? That would make sense, that it is even harder now.

But no, sadly that is not the case. The game isn't more difficult, it is more retarded now, it's game design is pure awful. And here is why; It doesn't really matter anymore for my role. It is about a certain champion choice that brings you to victory or not. Have you noticed the amount of Boom-champions in the game? With Boom-champions I mean those champions who puts fireworks in their ass and spits it all out over the map? In short let me introduce you to the new champion rework RIOT have yet to announced but is in the game now.

Malphite the unkillable stone but use R and kills. Lux the e,r-kill support stronger than adc. Ezreal the cs-go knifer. Graves the mental. Fiora the dash-kill. Elise, the miss cocoon but instant-kill on spiderform w,q. Mundo the banned. Leona with an actual shield made of another thousands shields. Master yi 50 shades of swords. Brand the support but as strong as mid. The list goes on…

So here I am, in a game as a marksman, not playing Ezreal or Lucian, but not doing damage or having an impact on the game whatsoever. Going back to the job i'm supposed to do, but again, doesn't really matter, because in the end of the day it's about that flash being ready for all that boom-effect that just instant kill you. You were used to be afraid of one, two players, now everything kills.

Am I alone in this?

If your playing Lucian or Ezreal and you are not doing damage, you are doing something wrong. Both of those champions are insane this patch.

I am not saying im not doing damage with those champions in this post. At all. That is not even my point. it is not a measurement about who does most. Everything is off the chart as of now, is kinda my point.
