Patch 7.4: Further weakening ADC's?

What's up community, I am an adc main, which is obviously frustrating at the moment but I wanna share my thoughts without sounding like a cry baby ^^

I think after all the discussions we had about the state of ADC's we can agree that crit-based, auto attacking ADCs are in a really bad state. I dare to say it is the worst state they were ever in. The only ADCs that have an impact right now are Varus , MissFortune and Jhin which are more like spell casters, which build the usual op lethality stuff. We all already know this and talked about this, yet I didn't saw any attempt in the 7.4 patch (or any of the patches before, we were aware of this for at least 4 patches) to increase the power of crit-based ADCs. Even worse, I think the hard warlords nerf actually weakened them further. It was only picked by auto-attacking adcs and the only option for surviving until you get to 3 items and start to have an impact. The fervor buff doesn't really improve any ADC, it's more a buff for champs like Fiora, Camille and Yasuo so it is actually hurting ADCs, too. The lethality meta is definitely another factor, item 3814 makes it impossible to get protected or to protect yourself (Vayne's e and Tristana's R are obviously useless against a champ that has it). I think the biggest issue is the super weak early and mid game that crit-based ADCs have. They need WAY to much time to get strong and even when they somehow get to 3 items they are not particularly stronger then the AD-casters.

My biased opinion:

I am happy to adapt to changes in the meta, but I am not happy to only play those 3 super boring champs every single game if I don't want to auto lose. Auto-attacking ADCs are not only way more fun and rewarding to play, the actually fit the role description way better. They are more skill rewarding and need more skills like stutter-stepping and proper positioning to be played in the first hand. You can't just poke from 2 screens away (like Varus ) or ult from a save distance (like Jhin/MissFortune ), you have to get way closer to the enemies. The combination off op, uncounterable assassins, super efficient tanks and the inefficiency of building crit honestly destroyed what was left of the true ADC role. Assassins make your team think you are inting and even when your team manages to protect you through item 3814, a 0/3 Maokai still easily absorbs the damage of a 5/0 Caitlyn without really getting hurt what so ever. ADCs once were supposed to cut through those tanks and maybe the item 3035 change makes it easier, but that will not increase the overall inefficiency of crit-based adcs.I hope the balancing team actually has the time to buff those champs in any way, because they are limiting their own ability to do balance by implementing unnecessary new op stuff. Just get the HUGE problems in your game out of the way before you bring in further issues like Camille, item 3107 or item 3814 .

Thanks for checking out my opinion, I would appreciate every feed back you have. Have a nice day and good luck on summoners rift! :)

if you have enough brains, you will notice those 3 are actually holding the botlane with a iron...no titanium fist. Other adcs cant do crap, and the problem is if botlane wins, all the other lanes have to equally suffer from their long range AOE nukes.

That is exactly what I am saying. Those 3 are broken while the rest is completely useless and I want that to change.

there not broken, Lethality is busted, prior to that all was fine damage wise.

what you want is for lethality to be toned down more

Just make lethality apply before % pen so that these adcs stop doing dmg to tanks late game and people automatically stop playing them bot lane

Ex3cute961 votes

That may be a solution to nerfing them properly but that doesn't change the fact that the rest of the adcs are garbage :D

Seeing that lethality is not effective against tanks , crit adcs might start working again

Ex3cute961 votes

No, that would only lead to APCs bot like before we saw the lethality meta. The crit ADCs are just to weak to be played ^^

That is true, the reason why they are so strong is lethality. But tuning down lethality is not enough to bring back the crit-based adcs. They were that weak even before the lethality buff.

true.

i should of said too that Crit is only weak due to the expense of it, the stat and crit ADCs are actually fine they just dont get to build all there stuff fast or effectivley enough to impact the game right now, mainly due to game length being alot shorter

the real villian here is game length as crit builds when fully built are still actually stronger, you just dont reach that point.

Exactly this. But unfortunately it seems Riot is taking the convoluted path and nerfing the champions instead. Don't get me wrong, they are cancer, but only with lethality. Tone down the source of the problem. Don't punish the champions who were mediocre at best before the lethality changes. I find it unfair and I'm not even an ADC main lol

{quoted} champs like Fiora, Camille and Yasuo

theyre adc too...

there is a reason, riot grouped champions into new categories and is calling the ones youre referring to marksmen.

Ex3cute961 votes

No they are not, all of them are still labeled fighters and (except maybe yasou in some very specific situations) can't go bot lane because they would get destroyed by their ranged opponents. Furthermore that doesn't change the fact that the real adcs further get punished by that change.

adc doesnt have anything to do with bot lane.

adc are attack damage carries. that includes champions like fiora, tryndamere, yi, yasuo.

adc are not the same as "bot" or "marksman".

Because of the usage in the community the meaning of the word adc is defined to be a ranged attack damage dealing champ in the bot lane. That is exactly what the community has always used that word for and this is what I implied.

And that still doesn't effect my point what so ever.

and its inaccurate. thats why riot changed it.

I have not heared of this change yet, do you have any sources?

Oh and by the way, if everyone precisely knows what it means, how is it inaccurate?

AND STILL that has nothing to do with my point.

your source is the game itself. riot used to classify champions by terms like "tank", "support", "carry". google "dev blog classes and sublcasses" where they changed it and explained why.

and its inaccurate, exactly because i just told you. too many different champions fall into the category of adc. people dont "know" what it means, because the term is generally used wrong.

because it happens to be that for the longest time, ranged adc have had a monopoly over the bot lane position. thats why people just started calling the position itself adc. and support class champions are called enchanters now, to differentiate from the support role which is not the same thing either.

but according to meddler, the marksman monopoly over bot lane is going to end soon. theyre trying to develop the game into a direction where bot lane has champion diversity like any other lane. they want to enable more mages to be able to duo lane first. then they want to see if they can get melee champions into bot lane.
