Why ranked ARAM should be a future addition

I have enjoyed playing ARAM a lot recently. Sometimes when I need to calm down from normal ranked, I hop into an ARAM game. It still takes skill for your team to win an Aram: ability to hit skillshots, dodge skill shots, being versatile with different champions that you maybe don't play as much, and knowing when to initiate fights. I think that it would be a great addition to LoL, and its fine that its RNG, there is a ranked TFT and that is going great. A ban option could also be possible. I and many others would really enjoy a ranked ARAM addition!

If it was added I would nver go back to SR.

Atm it just feels like norms. Pubstomp games and get nothing out of them. No sense of progression or anything to work towards.

Obviously a ranked mode woth random champs isnt meant to be taken super seriously, but it would be nice to feel like all your aram matches are working towards something.

only if they add a ban phase and/or open the entire champ pool

too many champions have 55-65% winrates in that mode

Only way a ranked ARAM would work is if the following is done

  • Ban phase added to the mode.
  • All champions unlocked meaning you can even be given a champion you don't normally own.

I'd add removed Bench and limit rolls to 1 per game, you get 1 per game. Make it random, not roll and then decide your roll wasn't good and just pick the other champ back up because they re sitting on the bench.

I play ARAM pretty much to the exclusion of other modes. I like the rng forcing people to learn new champions (and the variety helps keep me interested).... But the more I think about it, the less I want the pure toxicity of ranked polluting ARAMs.

I say this because it has already tainted normal draft (used to be my favorite mode), and blind pick.

Ranked means competitive, this means egos and a meta.... This detracts from playing a game to have fun and makes it about playing to win....

It would spill over from the ranked mode to the normal just as it has on summoner's rift andwould ruin the one mode I still play.

I see what you mean, but normal ARAM can still be an option. You don't have to play ranked

This is true... But it's true for summoner's rift now, yet normal draft and blind pick still get A LOT of the toxicity/anger from those frustrated/tilted at ranked. I want ARAM to stay separated from that by that extra few steps.

As to the winning champs, Illaoi is still REALLY good in aram, where her team can protect tentacles, sustain is hard to come by so an e nets good damage your team cannot save you from (a Braum can stop almost all the burst from a Lux combo AFTER his ally catches a q). And if you go in on her, her ult and passive make her ridiculously tanky in the small map where up to 9 tentacles are often in range.

The only patterns I've been able to see is reliable hard cc, particularly aoe cc is godly. Most one sided match I've been in was a 4v5 where my teamwas JarvanIV (me), XinZhao (a friend), Jax (rando), Pantheon (rando), Riven (never showed up to game) versus a comp of 3 adcs, one enchanted and a non cc tank (DrMundo I think).... We ran over them before the 10 minute mark (back in season 4 so damage was lower). We just had the cc and engage that they couldn't peel.

Nah it doesn't.

In ARAM who wins depends on which team gets Lux Fiddlesticks Jhin DrMundo Xerath Velkoz Veigar Kaisa

I've been keeping track of which team gets what, and weather they win that match or not, and Veigar actuality isn't a guaranteed win (much to my surprise) but they do tend to get Sivir 90% of the time in the last 2 weeks, and its annoying tbh

As I recall the reason for not having ranked ARAM wasn't the RNG. The reasons I've seen Riot provide is that they want ARAM to remain a "for fun" game mode and it would hurt their champion income too hard. Introducing a ranked queue would make it a more competitive mode and not one that would allow you to "calm down from normal ranked". Also, in order to have competitive ranked play, they'd have to unlock all champions which would decrease their champion sales.
