3000-1337=1663-600=1063 gold for the final purchase.
50 Attack Damage= 1800 gold 200 health= 533.33 gold 10 armor pen= 120 gold 10% CDR= 317 gold
2770 gold worth of stats ignoring passives. The item is 92.33% efficient before passives added in.

How is the build path bad?
I'm all for adding more middle items into recipes. Anything that you have to sit on for > 1000 gold with nothing in between (excluding

) needs to be reconsidered.
The best way to buff is to make the combined cost less.. I mean WTF?? i get a and a 
then have to wait 1263 gold to complete it? Shit, I know you can shred multiple champs armor but jesus, Most ppl would say fuck it 
is cheaper and quite franky most AD's get the instead anyways. And i don't mean specifically ADC's.
How is the build path bad?
Black Cleavers build path is bad because it has to compete with Tiamat/hydra for First item bruiser build paths.
The brutalizer on its own does not give enough damage to be relevant in early game team fights where as tiamat does, so you can stop at tiamat and go full tank where as if you go brutalizer you need to build more damage and risk not being tanky enough.
The build path for tiamat is better in most situation then it is for brutalizer, depending on how much gold you back with.
for combat stats 750-850 - longsword X2 900-1000 - pickaxe 1300 - pickaxe + long sword 1400 - Brutalizer
so from the 900-1300 gold range the tiamat/hydra build path is the best for combat stats.
and then for completing your item hydra/tiamat is still a better build path than the current Black cleaver route.
so If you are a bruiser top lane and only plan on building one damage item hydra/tiamat is better than brutalizer/black cleaver.
