Why is Vladimir so popular now?

I used to be a Vlad man about a year ago, and I just recently picked up the game again. I see that Vlad is now a popular ban and LCS pick, and I was wondering what changed to favor him.

item 3151 + item 3116 = Melted Tanks. He can easily outpush and outsustain several toplane tanky cinderhulk abusers.

I think it's because the meta shifted to tanks, and I guess he does well against them?

Tank Meta. same reason we see urgot and Cho mid now. The all get tanky as they build damage

The meta shifted. More tanks, less burst and assassins, and longer game times all fit Vlad's playstyle quite well.

Vlad is a tanky mage, which fits right in with this beefy frontline meta.

Alot of Vlad's good matchups are common right now so he does well here.

Vlad's ult is good for tank shreding due to the bonus damage increase it gives to everyone.

Vlad just fits right in with this meta. And the second it shifts he's going back to being an obscure pick.

It's because vlad has some of the best damage over extended teamfights. He prefers a tanky meta over a bursty meta.

Vlad's weakness is in the Early game, You want to bully him Early game before he reaches level 9 when his Q is maxed, and before he can get items. Tanks, don't really have the damage to bully Vladimir, a) because Vlads sustain healing, you need to burst him down to dangerous levels, you can't beat him in an extended trade. and b) If your top lane and Jungle are both tanks, and he troll pools your engage, you won't have enough damage to take him out before he retreats to his tower.

Come late game, he Becomes a monster with lots of sustained damage and healing. and his Ult will boost everyones damage, and reducing the defenses on your team.

Vlad is week early so any champ thrown top like Mao, mal, shyv etc that lacks burst loses to him around level 4 plus and once he gets huge he laughs at tank and even bruiser dmg and straight out nukes the carries while baiting out time with pool and or zonyahs if wounded to much and then proceeds to outplay with q heal and ace the team. Nuff said... Nothing changed to Vlad's kit really beside recent quality of life buffs. It's just the meta shifeted into an environment in which he thrives in... It's a great season to be a Vladimir main :D (I'm one huehue)
