I don't know who is the special person that thought autofill would make games higher quality. You are literally setting a person up to fail. On my main account I do not have many champions and I usually just end up going amumu support and losing. Fucking fix your stupid system because it's completely retarded.

No one thought it would make games higher quality.
Riot needed a way to make matchmaking faster (particularly for higher ranks), and the options were either keep searching for worse and worse quality teammates/opponents OR to have high quality players occasionally play a role they're less practiced with. The idea is that a player your same skill level playing an off role will probably be better than a main at that role who's significantly worse at the overall game than you.
It's a "least bad" situation, not a "this makes it better" situation.
