I made a thread I assume no one read it is crazy how little people know about how this ranked system works. I finally figured it out but have also been playing since season 2. Just give it a couple years and you will understand.

RIGHT NOW BRONZE IS NOT BRONZE, SILVER IS NOT SILVER, GOLD IS NOT GOLD, PLAT IS NOT PLAT, ETC ETC. EVERYONE DROPS ROUGHLY 1 TIER EVEN WITH GOOD PLACEMENTS. After a few weeks peoples mmr goes up and your placements place you a bit higher. Its all about rank distribution, mmr reset, time, blah blah. Ok so I get this is hard to follow but its not as hard as people make it think.

like just reading half of these comments "i was gold 4 and I wasn't accurately placed" probably not but that has not much effect at this time. All placements did was stop people from dropping 450 mmr and maybe like 400 or 350 or 300. Yes that is significant but everyone still dropped 4-5 divisions.

literally look up anyone in your league on lolking. watch their graph drop. look at people in silver 1, most will have been plat. look at people in silver 4 or 5 most were gold.

It's all complete bullshit. I was in G5 and lost 8 placements to get placed into S2. My MMR was above G5 so I got a buffer, if your MMR is shit you don't get said buffer.

If I'd have not fucked my placements entirely I'd probably have placed higher than last season, because I had good MMR, which is what matters, not your tier/division.

why is everyone saying people are getting placed where they deserved when EVERYONE is getting placed 4 -5 divisions lower than they were at minimum? It's not just a few people, it's literally everyone. How would the logic of 'you were playing with people lower than your actual rank' work with challenger players?

I don't think I've ever seen a diamond player take more than 30-40 games to make mid/high plat on a fresh account (so low silver mmr bc never played ranked). Not sure what the climb from bronze to gold for a gold player would be but my guess is something like 50-60 games if they are like gold V and need to get a lucky streak to break silver I into gold, less than that if they are mid gold or better.

Well the issue is you can ruin MMR from simply being forced to play with Bronze. I support well, dodges Blitz Hooks as a Supp Janna, help team get quite a descent amount of kills (and i dont even main Janna)... yet ADC cant dodge a hook (when most hooks were aimed at me XD), cant position at all, cant prioritize squish or carries, cant effectively cs even when the enemy Lucian starts to die more (you would think trist would have a higher cs, and still, i have low MMR ^_^).
