What Aurelion Sol's lane will be.

Alright so this is just a little theory, but I will make it brief, I promise.

So we know about the new Mount Targon lore (Which I adore by the way), and the champions involved. I think it's safe to agree that joining Diana, Leona and Pantheon is Aurelion Sol, because obviously in his teaser we see mountains similar to mount Targon and the empty champion slot in the mount Targon page. Since Diana is usually referred to as a mid laner, although she could be a jungle she was intended as a Mid laner so lets stick with that. Pantheon is a top laner, Leona is a support. So this leaves us with this:

Top: Pantheon Mid: Diana Support: Leona Jungle: ??? Adc: ???

Now this leaves Aurelion Sol with those 2 possible lanes since riot doesn't seem to like champions with the same lore in 2 of the same lane, especially if there are other lanes to fill. Jhin just came out who is adc, and it would be weird to release 2 adc one after another, so this leaves the jungle role, unless Riot decides Diana is a jungler.

Please don't kill me this is just my own take on what he's (She's? It's?) going to be which is jungle.

Well Ao Shin was originally a support; if that was the basis they were working from you can expect him to either remain a support or transition to mid because supps tend to have caster-heavy kits. With the sadist/power attributes they're giving him, he's likely a mid.

Also, keep in mind that both Pantheon and Diana are very capable junglers--not that that's going to have any real bearing on what Aurelion will be. This isn't a skin set, so I don't think it's accurate to assume they're trying to put someone in every role.

I think they said they couldn't get his kit to work as a support somewhere. So i'd say support is ruled out. So top mid or jg...maybe even adc?

It's not that his kit wasn't working as a support, it's that the kit that they generated didn't function nearly as well as they had wanted it to--thus the icebox. But I can't really imagine a character with that personality being a support, so I'd have to imagine they'd be a mage. Though someone said mage/tank... that could be an interesting fit that could put him anywhere but bot lane.

My guess is bruiser mage, like grag/swain/galio etc. Might have some passive based on his auto attacks doing damage. I mean if you're that big and a dragon, i don't expect a squishy character.

honestly he might even be another juggernaut, seeing riot is kind of separating juggers from tanks. Could see him being a high damage, high tankyness, low utility top laner, or a tanky heavy damage low poke mage.

I know you want to say that Leona is the support of Mt Targon... but from what I see, its: Fighter: Diana and Pantheon Marksman: ? Support: ? Tank: Leona Assassin: ? Mage: ?

They have a world of possibilities open... also, Aurelion Sol was made by the same person who did Bard. I hope this one is another support. Us support mains could use as much diversity as we can. There are only 12 that Riot says are supports (and that's out of 139). Even if you count Alister and Leona as supports, they are still tanks, and the tanks have at least more than the assassins do in the amount of champions.

Due to riot's recent champion philosophy of making you get into the essence of a character, key point jhin where they intended you to feel like a sniper, I suspect aurelion will be not a support due to his obvious powerful origin. Having an all powerful dragon god in support role will make him feel underwhelming.

Soraka is a celestial being that can fling down meteors... heals others instead. Bard is a cosmic demigod with untold power... Heck, Tahm Kench was not even thought of as a support until he was viewed on the PBE as a main role support and Riot said why they made him a support.

They don't always have to be obvious.

I couldn't really see an evil giant star-crushing solar dragon being a support character. Just my opinion.

I honestly don't know why a soul collecting spirit would be a support, nor why a talking fish who talks of devouring everything, nor why a child riding a yeti would strike me as a support champion. I don't know what they have in stored, to be honest. I never expected Sion to be made into a Tank, and the way Poppy was told I saw her still as a Fighter. I thought Ekko was going to be a Fighter, Gnar a Marksman, Illaoi a Tank, and Yasuo an Assassin. Though all (excluding Gnar) have those as their secondaries, I also see why Aurelion Sol could be a Fighter, Mage, or Tank. I know that my exceptions are high, and that we only know of his looks, but you can't say that because of his looks he can't be a Support.

Actually it was never said that Ao shin was supposed to be a support. Sure they said he was this kind of "brings destruction to his enemies and fortune for his allies"-kind of character,but that was just a very early concept and it looks like that part was entirely scrapped(and even if it wasn't,there are characters like lux who aren't real supports,but still have supportish abilities),so I wouldn't count on Aurelion being a support.

i dont feel like Ao shin got a fair shot at life. I am pro life, and I know that we need population control, but to terminate at such a young age? Rito, Ao Shin had a soul! A SOUL!!!!!!

I used to main Mao mid, and stomped anyone when he first came out. But if u want to play a tank mid, play gragas, galio, mao, cho, malphite, or even Urgot for god's sake, but please rito we dont need any more, "mid lane farm till we die of bordom" tanks!

I'm going for Jungle and Mid, I don't mid very often but I do main jungle and his passive AoE with a slight kite will be good. He doesn't even need a leash! I used to main Diana jungle and she's half decent at it too until you can get your Ult. Really think Aurelion Sol will be good at it to though, as he can wall fly in for ganks way past the enemy FoW and land a stun... Riot may say Mid but personally I think in the right hands he could be a great Jungler.

Exactly what I was thinking! His e passive and active combined with his q are so strong for ganks, and his passive itself is amazing for jungle clear! Only downside is that his item kit would be much more useful in a lane, without the jungler item holding a slot.

In my mind, Aurelion ought to be the top or mid laner in this scenario--His video showed a focus on energies (which means magic), and one of his lines is very dismissive of the usefulness of towers and walls. I expect he'll have some way of either invalidating a turret for a short while or demolishing them quickly, like Azir does with his soldier spam.

So... AP siege machine, or AP Tank who can disable turrets.

He sounds like an offtank mage like Cho, Swain, and Karthus (although death-boy isn't really supposed to tank rather than just kamikaze).

Chances are he'll love Rod of Ages and want to be dealing as much AOE damage as possible in fights.

I think it's Diana mid or Diana jg and vice versa for Aurelion (I don't have PBE so i don't know if aurelion can jg yet)

I'd say Diana would go jungle, and Aurelion Sol mid. That would leave an ADC open, which could possibly be a rework (YORICK PLES) or a totally new champion relating to Mt Targon.

I think Aurelion Sol's a great mid. Jungle is conceivable and top seems to work.

I play him support, I think he fits well in that role even though there are some flaws (can't hide in bushes)....
