I don't feel like I'm getting rewarded with the new Blue Essence reward system. Solutions?
The new way to earn BE is ridiculous. It causes problems for players at all levels and champion pool sizes. It's extremely frustrating trying to earn the champions you want. I understand that Riot THINKS they have created a better system because to them, when you level up you get loot, which usually contains 1-3 champion shards that are significantly cheaper than normal price and anywhere from about 60-300 BE. In Riot's eyes, they think "Hey, they are getting champions for less and if they don't want those champions you can disenchant them. But there are two problems with this.

It is significantly harder to get the champions that YOU want and this somewhat forces you to buy the champions that you are given as opposed to the champions you want because of the difficulty to obtain a CONSISTENT amount of BE and thus wanting to get champions for cheaper than normal.

I have leveled up 7 times since the new update and nearly every time I get low cost champion shards like annie, ashe, ect. which only gives me 90BE. I've played around 80 games since the new BE system came out and I have only obtained 1 new champion. This is a significant amount of games to be played and only being rewarded with 1 new champion
I thoroughly enjoyed grinding League nights with my friends to get the champions that I want. But now, I feel like I can't buy the new champions that I want to play. ( I really want Zoe. But I've saved up for three weeks and still I cannot afford her and I've played a lot). I especially feel bad for those who don't have the time to grind out this many games to simply get one champion.
I feel like there can be a few solutions to players not feeling like they are getting rewarded for playing while still getting the champions they want to play.
- Bring back re-rolling champions. 2 or 3 per re-roll.
It's extremely frustrating to open a loot capsule to see an Annie or an Ashe... AGAIN. Since I already own them, I'd rather save that shard and be able to re-roll it to a random champion that I do not own instead of feeling like Riot spit in my face by giving me 90BE for a level up. Some players may not even want to disenchant a champion shard so that they can instead use that champion shard to turn it into an increased level mastery, thus resulting in a 0 BE reward upon leveling up.
- Give BE based off of your Honor rank per game/log in.
I know Riot has given us a new Honor system to try to make us less toxic in game and rewards us by giving us key fragments when we log in. But I'm on my 7th key (21 fragments) now with no chests because I've already gotten chests on most of the champions I play. If they instead gave us BE during this random log in phases it would not only get players to strive to be less toxic in game, but also help us out with some champion purchasing power. Maybe they could even give us some BE post game.
For example.
Honor lvl 1 - 25 BE per game/random log in reward Honor lvl 2 - 35 BE per game/random log in reward Honor lvl 3 - 50 BE per game/random log in reward Honor lvl 4 - 60 BE per game/random log in reward Honor lvl 5 - 75 BE per game/random log in reward
I'm not saying it has to be just as much as the old system but give us something.
- Daily BE (not just BE off of first win of the day) based off player lvl with a BE limit.
This would help with the problem for those who only have time to play one or two games a day. I know a lot of people who play League can only squeeze in a few games during their busy day, especially those who have full time jobs and families. However, if they do not get a win within those few games, then they do not receive their small 50 BE per day. This can be extremely frustrating for some and can make the process of getting a new champion take even longer.
For example,
Player lvl 1-10 (200 BE daily with 10,000 BE limit) Player lvl 11-20 ( 150 BE daily with 8000 BE limit) Player lvl 21-30 (100 BE daily with 6000 BE limit) Player lvl 31-50 (75 BE daily with 5000 BE limit) Player lvl 50+ (50 BE daily with 3500 BE limit)
Notice I believe the limit is important to prevent players from simply logging in daily to collect their BE without actually playing the game. This would incentivize lower level players to not level up so they can stack BE.
- Give players guaranteed BE per level up based off player lvl.
Players could receive a set amount of BE per level up. This would help both assist the newer, lower level players gain a large champion pool quickly and give the higher level players some BE to buy the last remaining champions that, again, THEY want to play. Personally, I feel like if we want to main a specific role, it shouldn't be a struggle for the lower leveled players to obtain all of the champions in that role quickly. Even though Riot gives us discounted champions shards, it could easily take 5-8 levels to obtain enough BE for a new champion with disenchanting OR the lower leveled players would have to get lucky enough to get a shard for a champion in their desired role.
For the higher leveled players, we are constantly getting shards that we either already own or don't want. This, at least for me, makes me feel like I cannot buy the champions that I want. Thus, if you gave us an expected amount of BE on top of the shards we get. We can at least look forward to getting some BE towards the champion we want.
For example,
Player lvl 1-10 (1000 BE per capsule) Player lvl 11-20 ( 800 BE per capsule) player lvl 21-30 (400 BE per capsule) Player lvl 30-50 (200 BE per capsule) Player lvl 50+ (100 BE per capsule)
With this, from lvls 1-10 you would obtain 10,000 BE which is enough to buy a decent size champion pool of lower cost champions. As you scale through lvl 20 you are guaranteed another 8000 BE which can buy you a high cost champion within the role that you now main. Up to level 30, before you can enter ranked play, this gives you a chance to find back-up champions for the role or roles that you want to play in case your main get's banned. As you go past level 30 the guaranteed BE will drop, but you will still be able to at least feel like you have the opportunity to save up.
- Give players a set amount of champion shards when opening loot capsules for various levels of BE disenchanting. (Higher amount for lower leveled players)
As I said earlier, I have leveled up 7 times and in at least 2 of the capsules, I only received a single champion shard worth 90 BE. No matter what level you are, this is simply not worth the number of games required to level up to only receive 90 BE. In the past, you could get 90 IP off of one game. Now, I'm not entirely sure how much BE you get from disenchanting different cost champions, but I believe its something like this.
450 BE = 90 BE after disenchantment 1350 BE = 270 BE after disenchantment 3150 BE = 630 BE after disenchantment 4800 BE = 960 BE after disenchantment 6300 BE = 1260 BE after disenchantment.
Players lvl 1-10 Receive 4 champion shards with at least a guaranteed 6300 champion
Players lvl 11-20 Receive 3 champion shards with at least a guaranteed 4800 champion
Players lvl 21-30 Receive 3 champion shards with at least a guaranteed 3150 champion
Players lvl 31-50 Receive 2 champion shards with at least a guaranteed 3200 champion
Players lvl 50+ Receive 2 champion shards with at least a guaranteed 1350 champion.
For lower leveled players, they would have the opportunity to both save a champion shard that they want and disenchant those that they don't want. Again, this would help build the champion pool early for lower leveled players while also giving some BE for the higher leveled players to save up for the champions they want.
- Reduce the cost of crafting mastery levels by 1/2 or 2/3.
It costs nearly the same to buy a new champion and obtain mastery lvl 6 or 7 for a champion you own. This causes players to make the tough decision (after grinding 30+ games) "Do I want that new and higher mastery, or do I want a new champion to play. The price to obtain a mastery is way to high and this can discourage people from mastering up their champions.
- Increase the minimum amount of BE acquired from disenchanting champion shards.
Again, this goes back to me receiving an Annie shard after leveling up and that's all I got. 15 or 20 games of playing to receive 90BE. It's just not enough to make me feel like I have achieved anything from playing this game.
Minimum amount of BE per disenchant to 200 BE.
Most of these solutions, that I believe are somewhat reasonable, doesn't even require players to get BE after each and every game. It comes down to the simple fact that it is extremely difficult for players to earn enough BE to buy new champions in a reasonable amount of time which doesn't make League even feel like it's still worth playing.
This new system causes problems for both low leveled players and high leveled players.
The lower leveled players cannot build their champion pool quickly enough to enter draft pick games and in same cases even ranked games. The higher leveled players feel like they are forced to buy champions that they don't want to play and struggle to save up for champions that they would rather own. With the new BE system it requires a significant amount of luck to obtain a reasonable amount of BE. I mean yeah, it's possible to get 3 shards of champions to disenchant for a total of roughly 1.5-3k BE, but the odds are really stacked against you and if you are a player who is struggling to build a champion pool it can be extremely discouraging to continue to play this game.
Sorry for the long read, I've read a lot of comments regarding BE and I felt like I would do my best to not only explain the reasoning as to why I feel like the League community is frustrated, but I've also attempted to offer, what I believe, are reasonable solutions to both help lower leveled players and higher leveled players. I'm just curious to see how everyone else feels.
