questions about varus

so i have been playing varusVarus for a while and i have noticed so mixed feelings about him in certain lanes. so my question is: Is varus a good ADC or is he better used in a different lane? I have seen him in bot, mid and sometimes top and I'm just not sure where he should go and i don't want to make a dumb mistake and play him wrong. so any help would be great thanks.

I wouldn't recommend taking him top lane. He would not enjoy laning against a mobile bruiser or getting ganked in the long lane without backup.

He should still work as an ADC. One build I've been planning to try on him is: item 3006 item 3508 item 3094 item 3072

You should be able to siege and poke quite well with these items while dealing good DPS.

If i owned varus I'd take him in the jungle warrior, bruiser. I really don't like him ADC, his midlane is Meh, he's just not meant to be very mobile, I like his ability to poke from the jg, and he has pretty decent clear speed with his q-w-e stuff, his passive gives him the attack speed he needs, So ya'kno just try things out and whatever you like the most.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

top = bad mid = good bot = below average

AP Varus mid is an option as well. It has a slightly different playstyle, but still works pretty well in my opinion. AP Varus even got a buff with 5.22 and his ult now giving 3 stacks of Blight.

AD is meh, AP is pretty beast, going varus top its like going vayne/quinn/etc. either you get fed or get stomped. Mid varus is a really good choice since you can start with your E at lv 1 and get a really decent poke and buy either AS for more stacks of blight or AP for more E and R chunks.

I only use Varus to ADC and I must admit he feels very underwhelming when compared to the other ADCs. His only true offensive weapon is his Q, the delay on the AoE Slow requires prediction of enemy movement and I feel like his R and passive could be reworked in order to give him more offensive presence. If his R had a reduced CD and maybe went through minions I could see him moving up but still being average at best. The blight stacks or whatever they're called are also not that useful in the laning phase because usually you are just poking to harass and have not AA'd the enemy enough for them to be relevant. Varus is a cool champion and his Q/R are fun to use. Other than that I do think he's pretty irrelevant in the meta and despite him being one of my champions used on a regular basis I would think twice before I actually used Varus in a ranked game.
