Idea(s) for making Kindred more competitively viable! :D
Hey, I'm a relatively new player, currently level 24, so not even in ranked play yet, so I can understand any suggestions i give being carelessly pushed aside, but hear me out :D I love Kindred! like really love them so much, their design, lore, voice acting and game play to me is awesome and part of the reason I noticed League of Legends and decided to play it. Don't get me wrong I love loads of the champions and Riot are clearly amazing developers and artists, but Kindred stands out the most for me. Now, that i'm properly getting into the game I've noticed some of Kindred's glaring weaknesses and after looking at sites like champion.gg I've noticed their pick rates are really pretty low, so I wanted to post on here some suggestions I have that may or may not be seen or taken notice of by Riot and may have even been suggested and disregarded in the past, but f$!& it! ima do it anyway :P
The first suggestions I have, I interpret as being essential buffs based on what I've seen, read and experienced. IMO kindred doesn't really need any buffs to their stats really, the main thing that makes or breaks Kindred seems to be the hunting mechanics and the way their stats are balanced around this. To stop Kindred from being overpowered with the snowballing from the marks obtained they start the game relatively underpowered, however against players with much knowledge of how Kindred works they can hinder their mark farming early game to render them potentially useless in the mid and late game. This problem needs to be addressed if Riot are to keep the mechanic of hunting marks and hunting in the jungle and make Kindred more viable.
My three essential buffs for Kindred are:
-
Remove the ability for the enemy team to see Kindred's jungle marks on the minimap, i think this is the most essential, the marks on enemies being visible is fine, but its not like Kindred is anywhere near overpowered, so why give them such a massive handicap. imo this is the most essential buff I've listed here
-
Make more powerful targets more rewarding, one of the most important things for a Jungler to do is slaying dragons and Baron etc so make the more powerful monsters like these give two marks instead of one when wolf marks them to hunt, this will help Kindred players find it easier to snowball whilst making these key targets more rewarding. Another thing could be to make enemies which are carrying the enemy team or are just straight up more powerful, more rewarding to mark by making them give two marks instead of one.
-
Make the marking of jungle monsters more random, even if the enemy team were not able to see Kindred's jungle marks on the minimap her marks are relatively predictable, so why not mix it up a bit and make it a tad more random, or make them spawn relatively close to Kindred and not on the other side of the map.
Other suggestions
-
Make the likely-hood of the first mark being the red or blue buff and make them spawn with it and not have to wait the initial time. This suggestion is possibly a bit over the top, but it would certainly help get Kindred off to a good start. Probably too much though.
-
Rework or completely change Lamb's Respite, Lamb's Respite CAN be used by skilled players to make some really great plays and I don't think it absolutely has to be changed, however, this ultimate seems a bit out of place to me on a jungler/marksman and it can be really hard to use for inexperienced players such as myself and even for more skilled players, whereas a lot of characters have ults that are easier to use and more powerful. Ideas I have for Kindred's ultimate are:
-
a long range skill shot arrow that hits an enemy for a medium to large amount of damage, marks them, reveals them in fog of war and increases Kindred's and possibly all allies movement speed towards this mark for a certain amount of time.
-
Wolf becomes independent for a certain amount of time, similar to Annie's Tibbers and rushes to a marked enemy mauling them and slowing them, if the marked enemy dies, wolf will mark the nearest enemy to him and hunt them and continue this until an enemy slays him or the time expires. The time which this ult lasts could gain some time every time he defeats or assists you or an ally in the defeat of a marked enemy.

Anybody who reads my suggestions, please give feedback and add your own and if you liked them lets hope Riot sees them and agrees :D
