Big difference, CertainlyT hamfisted-ly shoehorned mordekaiser into botlane in an attempt to shake up the meta forcefully. This time it happened naturally as a result of cumulative changes

I'm pretty sure they did try to make ziggs go bot... they strengthened his tower siege power and made bot towers shit, then they didn't hint at it like they did with mord

Except this was a result of two separate things that someone just so happened looked at and said "why don't we try this?" The Mid Year Mage Update was to give mages more personality to the rift in order to give them some uniqueness to how to build your team comp. This was done around Patch 6.9 when towers all had their fortifications and stuff.

Later came patch 6.15 when the first blood tower bonus was added and the removal of bot tower shield. This was to stop the Top and Bot lane swaps that would usually go like this; Both teams move their lanes to the other side, take the tower, then proceed to farm for 20-30 minutes until they had enough to do things for the mid game. It took up to Now, 10 patches later, for someone to realize that Ziggs should have been a prime candidate to replace marksmans.

However, at the time, people thought he was garbage and played the assassins that were dominating thanks to the abuse of Youmuu's and Black Cleaver.

I half-agree. In that we should buff Mordekaiser.

Ziggs is fine. But we need more Mord.

if you want a comparison

Morde has a passive that the adcarry can do nothing against, except kite him and hope to wear it down

he takes no xp penalty for being in a DUO lane, meaning he will always outlevel the enemy botlane during laning phase, and becoming inherently stronger back then due to it

an extremely unfair ultimate/ghost dragon passive that let him snowball so hard it made today look like a joke to be honest. if morde got ahead your melees would literally tickle him mordes kit by very definition when its working is bullshit.

comparing it to ziggs whos a poke machine with extensive mana costs, going into a lane where range matters and mages were always a thing bot, why not take it into a carry role and lo and behold actually working because of ziggs being the one to take towers

conditional mobility, heavily skillshot based, and most of all you're losing any form of dps you have on your team unless you have something like kled, for a siege mage botlane.

yeah totally gut the more fair one

I wont deny morde needs buff too, though.

Lets not forget that Ziggs while having siege power doesnt have the kill pressure morde had. Morde was pick ban because he could kill an adc with 3 hits of his q. If you paired him with a zilean you could burn an ADCs flash just by walking at them. and Zils speed boost is hell of a lot shorter cooldown than flash. the only ADCs that had any reletive chance were cait because of her 90 Cal net and her range as well as Trist who could rocket jump away. Immobile duelists like Vayne literally couldnt play the game if they were against a morde.
