pls i need some tips on how to face garen

im sick of losing my lane everytime i play against this bs does someone know how i can against this monstrosity of a top laner [zombie-brand-facepalm]

item 3155 If you aren't the villain, this item can fully eat his ult even if you are low. Its a really cheesy get counter.

Ayyyy, although he's still a threat because he still does a lot of damage, and his Q has a low cooldown.

he does better playing safe against a teemo or adc than someone like darius. I would reccomend playing someone like darius to beat him, however.

Since the other 2 comments are just "play x" ill try to give some real tips

Try to poke him to stop his passive
Have jg gank after he uses his q, so he has no escape
Armor pen or magic pen, he generally builds full tank, sometimes without black cleaver
Stop him from stacking his w, and only fight when it is down

You can't really stop him from stacking his W... not effectively...

I feel like that only works if he lets you harass him. I've made that mistake before on people like assassins mid.

In my opinion of garen players they normally target the weaker of champs so they can get fed. my recommendation since I'm a support main I normally am with the team but having JG gank is a good first choice if you don't wanna rely on the jungler go with a item or two of armor pen or magic pen depending on who you are playing as followed up by tank items, or final option is to get him under turret and keep him there if to many minions best is to have jg gank

You need to post some info. Who are you playing vs him? So people know what to tell you. Ex: how to play out the matchup, recommended items and in what order, runes, masteries, etc. Ex: many renekton players actually start w (stun) vs him instead of q which is their normal start in most matchups. This is because while you get silenced by garen, you activate w before he hits you with q. This stuns him - allowing you to continue autoing him while he does nothing because he is stunned. Thus you win lvl 1 trades vs garen as renekton. That's one example. So if you really do want help, say what your matchup is or ask what to play vs garen and people can recommend matchups and describe what to do. Also is garen always running the same masteries or does it vary by match? Ex: grasp, fervor, thunderlords, etc.

I dont really know how to explain, for me it was a experience thing, after games and games against him i just kind of know when he is strong when not. When i can fight him and when not.

step #2: his weakness is "peel" just like the other juggernauts, you have to run from him.... try playing range top laners such as Quinn Teemo ... they are not necessary you can still play Pantheon Gangplank Renekton Poppy Kled and many others but its called a "skill matchup" in most cases.

step #3 get boots early it helps avoid his Q

step #4 beware of the bush tactics.

most important rule of top lane: farm is more important that kills(in most cases) as long as you "tie" or beat him in cs and don't die more than once you should be fine, Garen turns out pretty shitty because in most cases a good ADC can just kite him to death during late game

example: garen kills you twice but you have 50cs over him, its your win not his.

edit: your Irelia game, and If thats the one you refer 2, hes got ignite and you took tele, that automatically means hes got advantage in lane... irelia is really good at farming under tower... did you try and fight him? also you started with Q (bladesurge) mabey try and take your E first next time....

... you cant "run from him" unless u have a form of cc. hell i main nidalee and SHE cant escape him, and everyone knows how slippery she can be

mabey you are misunderstanding me....

yes you can in lane especially top lane its all about "positioning"

geting boots early when garen has no boots should give you advantage its hard to explain on paper

and yes I have played vs many garens and played him myself, his Q lasts a long time but its very easy to spot when he uses it

im not talking about him flashing Q/E you im talking mostly about lane, for example ....level 1 garen can use Q to run at you and catch you but minions should help you trade back

play darius or illaoi, poke/harass him so he doesn't regen, try kiting. Just so you know, he counters people like tryndamere, renekton (if you're not dumb), and irelia.

item 3155 item 1053 item 3675 Anyone with attack speed. A good Jax wins easily. Anyone with a smooth auto attack reset. Ex: Darius Trundle Renekton . And anyone that just fights him. Ex: Tryndamere

Having said that, I am a very good Garen player, since I go very damage heavy. As a result, if you make a single mistake, I will punish you and snowball pretty hard. If the Garen builds damage items like Tiamat or BF sword early, building hexdrinker does not help much. This is because I do not need my ult to kill you. I generally buy a item 3751 if the enemy picks up an early hexdrinker. I eventually sell that item, since I consider item 3068 a trash item.
