I didn't know I had to lock in

While playing ranked today I was removed twice consecutively because I was not aware that I had to lock in to the champion that I intended to play. I am so used to the old method of being locked into the champion that I was hovering that I've lost 30 points and have had to wait 1 hour to play a game now. The current system in my opinion only punishes while players are unaware of what they did wrong. Shortly, an important learning lesson is being missed. I suggest that similarly to when a summoner goes AFK and they player has to type "I agree" to no longer going AFK, when a player fails to lock in Riot should implement a system where it goes over the parts of que.

For example:

  1. First Phase: Players are able to formulate a tentative team composition by hovering over champions they intend to play. Players are NOT required to pick a champion in this phase.
  2. Ban Phase: Summoners 3-6 on both teams must ban a champion or it will be registered as a que dodge and perhaps further penalties.
  3. Pick Phase: Summoners must now pick the champion they play to bring to the rift. Failure to lock in the champion will result in a que dodge and perhaps further penalties.

Do you understand? <Summoner types "I understand">

I believe this will help summoners like me by preventing them from recreating the same mistake they had before. Again I found this to be very frustrating because I was not aware of what I was doing wrong. I do find this new pick / ban phase overall poorly designed. The need to lock in during steps 2 and 3 seems unneeded and should be reverted.

Lastly, I am unhappy with the loss of solo que. Please bring back solo que.

Sincerely,

There's a popup explaining the lock-in when you accept the queue...
