It's based on your invisible MMR rating compared to your division. Each division has a MMR range in mind. So you have to win more games to get higher LP "wages" to climb
MMR is also the same thing that does matchmaking. It matches you and tells LP how much you win or lose
When you lose more than you gain it means it's slowly trying to demote you if you don't improve and it also does the opposite.
because your mmr is tanked. nothing to do with diamond.
