Tanky on-hit Teemo?

GanksLikeGast0n··1 votes·620 views

So I've been playing for about a season and a half, and during that time I've seen two types of teemos played: AP/AS and Big AP shroom machine. However I have heard rumors floating around of another build path that apparently used to wreck games, that being tanky on-hit teemo. My understanding is this was boots, BotRK, Trinity Force, Omen, veil, Mallet. What caused this to stop being played, and is it still a viable build path?

Shrooms got their base damage nerfed pretty hard a while back. They do 150 less at max rank now. (250 if you go back far enough)

Also I think part of it has to do with tanky buiilds in general just not being as good anymore.

Also also partly to do with Nashor's getting a sweet buff when Malady got Solomon'd.

They also got their scaling hit hard in 4.3. 80% AP down to 50% AP.

I thought the Nashor's rework might have been a big part of it. I did not know about the mushroom nerfs. That actually would explain a lot of it. Thank you much!

I'm not sure teemo really has enough base damage or team fight utility to justify a bruiser build. I don't think it's a terrible idea to throw in one or two defensive items, but you're still probably going to want a nashors/liandries if you intend for your damage to stay relevant in the late game.

A huge portion of Teemo's power budget is taken up by his shrooms. With the build you've listed, your shrooms are going to be dealing totally inconsequential late game damage. At least throw in a liandries--the synergy seems way too good to pass up.

Thank you for your contribution, however explanations are more helpful than single word answers.

On spell effect Teemo is probably stronger, like Rylai's>Liandry's (those shrooms buuuurn).

Yup. Liandry's tends to go along with the big damage shroom machine. How much use do you get out of the rylai's though? I feel like it would only really do anything with the blinding dart.

Wait, forgot that the shrooms themselves also slow, duh. Rylai's is definitely a bit redundant then, since the Liandry's already gets the bonus burn on shrooms anyway. Liandry's is really pretty good though, I have gotten half lifed by a single shroom from a Teemo who rushed Liandry's (granted, I hadn't gotten any MR at that point, but still).

seems like liandry's + mallot and maybe a triforce or botrk with pure tank stats wouldn't be all that bad for teemo. but i dont play teemo ever so i wouldn't really know.

To be as serious as I can in a teemo discussion, I'd say he's probably played best as an assassin. You set up a hut in an often contested area and try to pick people off using your shrooms and stealth passive which opens up an opportunity for you to split or take a big objective.

I think using him as more of a frontliner defeats the purpose of picking him when that same role could be accomplished by other champions in a much better way
