I never understood the explanation behind "we dont wanna give them resources to make them think about what they are doing" Even as a kat player, its braindead as fuck. Are you trading with the laner? If yes, reset cds. Is your laner oom? If yes, kill them. Like it's so stupid that champion get to be resourceless.

They do have higher cooldowns, the counterplay is to abuse those cooldowns. Morde W cd is very high. Aatrox has very little damage after his 3rd Q.

Or they have a minigame to get the most out of their resource, and the counterplay is to make them lose their minigame

So for instance, you have Tryndamere in lane. He gets crit by hitting minions, his minigame is to stay in the wave, trade/all in with his crit and then heal if he needs to->rinse repeat. The counterplay is to go in the wave yourself (before him) and if he walks up and tries to stack up his crit on minions, you hit him away (when he's weak)->he spends what little crit he has to heal and you win lane. The ability to do that is matchup dependent but it does work

They're usually the most interactive champions. Champions that have mana bars but don't have to worry about their mana costs are far worse

I get that a few manaless champions are strong right now, but there are also plenty of them that aren't strong. So these champions aren't strong because they're manaless

Totally right and in the case of Morde, he has low dmg in early levels and you can outtrade him with most melee's. e has 24 sec cd and w 14 sec. Quite much imo.

Darius at the other hand has not to worry about mana with the refund on w on killing minions and 30 mana cost on q and w lvl 1.

Or give them cooldowns that aren’t 0.0000004 seconds.

Old Aatrox was well done in terms of being gated while being manaless. He lacked power IF he wasn't fully stacked on his passive. It meant he had to manage the passive, not only to get the revive but to maximise his damage. Rumble and Renekton have to do this too. With new Aatrox they removed that, no HP costs at all (although the mini rework in 2017 removed most of that for Aatrox except his E), he heals stupid amounts at no cost, unlike Vlad or Zac and his revive was reduced to the press of a button. This is why I prefered old Aatrox over new, the way he played was more fun and wasn't about just spamming your abilities (plus the attack speed buff).

They need to bring that kind of thing back, even if it's small. Aatrox is perfect for that kind of thing, make W and Q cost HP, consdering he'll get it back if he lands the empowered auto and his abilities thanks to E. Then they could add back in the E working on minions.

Most manaless champs are on the top lane and most mana champs on top have either large mana pools or has some stupid refund costs that it doesn't matter like Darius or Fiora. The rest have too little mana that you have pick between farming or trading like Malphite or Kayle which is bullshit. So I really don't see the point in adding resources to the manaless champs such as Yasuo. If you had to manage mana he'd be weakened severely to the point that enemy can bait out all his mana or farm with no risk of getting hurt. What manaless champs excel at is punishing enemies while they're autoing something that isn't them, like minions, which forces you to last hit the said minions instead of just whacking them till their you can last hit them or focus on trading with the enemy laner and I truly think that should stay as some champs need and should be punish when taking cs such as Nasus because once he gets those stacks he's a nightmare. Yes other champs can punish while you farm and still manage mana but when they're out their punishment is over and champs like Nasus should not be allowed that mental relaxation so manaless champs do it best and I like it. But that's my opinion.
