The Removal of Ryze Ult Interaction with Zhonya's

I will go ahead and post the notes from the Patch Notes in case you haven't read them: "Activating Stopwatch or Zhonya’s now cancels Ryze’s ultimate as though he had been interrupted by crowd control.

When the original decision was made to allow Ryze to use Zhonya's Hourglass to guarantee his ultimate, we were on the fence about this interaction, but it was deemed acceptable because he paid a significant cost to access it. Zhonya's Hourglass either came later in the game, or delayed core items in Ryze's already expensive build. Now that the Inspiration tree has made Zhonya's effect much easier to access, we’re not comfortable with keeping this low gameplay interaction intact.

UPDATED THE ULTIMATE CC Activating Stopwatch or Zhonya's now cancel's Ryze's ultimate as though he had been interrupted by crowd control."

I think this is a perfectly acceptable change, but I have a friend who thinks that not only should they do this for ALL champion ult interactions with Zhonyas such as Morgana and Fiddlesticks , but he also believes that it was intended to force a META change. I had to COMPLETELY disagree on _BOTH _ points, but I'm wondering how other people see it. Any thoughts?

I think it's ridiculous to remove the ability to use zhonya's with Ryze ult. His ult was already pretty useless. Using it as an escape was the only good thing about it in my opinion. There are few opportunities to use his ult offensively in a normal game if you are playing alone, as teleporting your whole team somewhere requires a lot of communication. More than can be done with pings alone.

IF that happened a lot of champs would suddenly be hot garbage.

Only two of those champions have ults (Morg and Fiddle) that continue after Zhonya's. And the reason why they do that is because they have a channel time, then an active time. If they Zhonya's during the channel, the ability is interrupted as if it was crowd control.

If Zhonya's cancelled the effect of their ults, it would be like throwing out a Lux E and then having it just disappear when going into stasis.

in dota 2 theres literally the same sort of thing with spell immunity and TP scroll yet it isn't removed

little detail: you can pierce spell immunity in dota so zhonya is literally more powerful than (in this comparison) BKB

while i agree that ryze prob shouldnt be able to zonyas ulti, the problem is it basically leaves him without an ulti until lvl 12. Lets be real rank1 ulti is garbage its all but useless without zonyas, it literally doesnt go as far as flash and is so easly interrupted they may as well remove it altogether. It become mediocore at rank2, useable for an over the wall team gank. I love playing ryze but after this there is no reason to play himm, rito effectivley just dumpsterd him,. he needs either a heafty buff to his ulti or flat out reworked again. Goodbye my old friend til next time someone jacks up your 5 rework
