Why is it there isn't an option to just pick one role if you don't mind waiting? I honestly feel like if you are very good at one position that you shouldn't have to be thrown in another that you're not as good at or don't want to play when you can easily just wait a little extra time to get the position you want.

I've spent 6 years playing this game, and have sufficiently mastered every role well enough to fill. Is it fair for me to have spent all that time to do this and to have a system randomly implemented that allows people to just spam one role? Learn diversity bro :/
Ivaldi1 votesIf you excel at playing a champion in a specific role then why shouldn't you be able to play it? Sure, I can play other roles and champions, but not as well. Different people are better at different roles and obviously people aren't going to be equally good at every role unless they want to progress very slowly. The fastest way to rank up is getting very good at one role as opposed to getting equally good at every role.
Chijoku1 votesBecause a good way to master the game is by understanding every role. You only understand every role by playing it. I am not saying I am the best, but this a pretty basic science of the game. This is what I've personally (with bias) have hated the dynamic queue system. I have always felt that solo Q especially was about measuring your individual skill to work in random predicaments, and that might include your own role being taken.
On a side note unrelated you also get those players who earnestly think they are good at a role, when statistically they are not.

Ivaldi1 votesYou don't need to master every role to understand how the roles work. And it's arguable you just don't "master" every role. There's not one player that is just better at every role than every other player. And honestly up until like high plat, it's hardly a team game. It's more of, "how hard can I do well enough to carry the two people on my team who shouldn't be in this elo". And ranking up is easier when you just spam one role and are very good at it rather than trying to be equally skilled in every role.
