Is anyone else tired of sated junglers?

It's actually kind of funny as I'm typing this, but in game, its so frustrating. This sated meta has every jungler that uses the item thinking "I'll just AFK farm until I get it then carry", and by then the whole game is lost because the opposing team's Vi or Gragas has left havoc across the map. I understand the concept of playing defensive, warding and farming under turret if you have to, but by level 7 the Vladimir top and Vi are gonna dive you and u still die or the Gragas and fizz mid are gonna dive you and proceed to dragon.

The only jungler I've seen really emerge with insane carry power after sated is Shyvana. I know others can do it but in the games I've played most others (Yi, WW, Kayle) usually fail, while Shyv might carry half because she is so OP with that item. I'm not suggesting the item needs a fix. I think it's fine as it is and you can't fix the AFK farm mentality but it's getting to the point where I dread seeing a jungler that I know is going for sated, or I'll forgo whatever I really feel like playing and just jungle myself.

Sated junglers get beat out hands down by gank junglers. If you want to stop them get someone to endlessly gank lanes. They either have to stop farming or have to concede to letting an opponent get fed.

This is exactly how I feel about it. Gank junglers if played correctly will win the game before your sated Jg even has a chance to be relevant. especially if it's a gank jg with inherent tankiness (Vi, Gragas, Sej, J4), becuase even if you play defensive. You have until about level 7/8 before you get dove and die and they start taking objectives. Sated doesnt matter if by the time you have it you only have 2 inner turrets standing because The opposing jg was every and took all the objectives. Shout out to Udyr as well. I've seen some sated Udyrs that had carrying power even when the game seemed lost. (that phoenix stance be crazy yo)

I beat a godyr with jungle cho but on to my point the problem with most sated jungler is the afk farm you can gank with it jax Shyv ww at 6 and still get done by 25-30 minute mark 1 dragon and 4 scuttle is almost half the stacks it's so easy I think the longer it's out the better other junglers can counter it

you have a point, but it's not 100% true. it's kind of like the same as early game bullies have an early advantage, and some can kill you under tower at lvl 6, but if you don't give too much advantage you can do well with a later scaling champion. a stacking jg is simply a later scaling champion while a ganking jg forgoes some of that late spike by going for early kills. both have advantages. of course, a true afk stacking jg is not a great idea as you essentially play 4v5

It takes less than 20 minutes to get Sated if their enemy is AFK farming. I don't think that's long enough for a gank jungler to already secure a game.

Narasimha5 votes

20 minutes is more than enough time to get lanes rolling. And one sated jungler isn't going to make a huge difference if multiple lanes are ahead.

Zyorhist1 votes

honestly though, drag should only count 3 stacks and baron should still hold 5 though. Its kinda stupid that I can plan a drag play at my devourer purchase then another for the finish and be done with it.

ElJanitorFrank2 votes

By the time you can actually DO Baron, you probably have devourer already.

And I disagree on the drag, that gives devourer jungle a very big incentive to get objectives, which takes them out of the afk jungler mentality.

GrammatonKleric4 votes

20 minutes? Your kidding. You do know you can FF at 20 right. There is a reason for that. At 20 minutes a jungler can def make the game unwinnable. 20 minutes in most people are lvl 13 - 15. Do you know how much snowballing can happen by level 14? And again against any competent team, no sated jungler is gonna carry that hard. I'm not saying it always happens, but very often the afk sated farmers do their team a disservice.

KorZod1 votes

If there's, say, a Riven top, or a Talon Katarina Akali Fizz mid, or a Vayne Draven Jinx Kalista bot, or god forbid the jungler themselves is a hard carry, 20 minutes is more than enough. Gank at 5, get a kill for your laner. Gank at 10, get another kill. By that time, if they're two kills up (4 possibly in the bot lane) they will be able to take turrets easily, solo kill their lane enemy, and snowball out of control. It won't matter if you come out of the jungle at 17 minutes with a devourer + bortk Shyvana when the enemy Vayne is 5/0/2 or whatever she could be by that point. Sated is fine in some team comps where you can stall, but if they go even remotely aggressive early... it is easily overpowered by ganking junglers

GrammatonKleric1 votes

Completely agree. Some champions must be shut down early. Fizz, Akali. To a lesser extent Riven and Kat because as long as they don't snowball they are manageable late game, but if you don't kill Fizz or Akali in lane, good luck late game in solo queue where the coordination is lacking most of the time.

But that's long enough to get your teammates fed so they can stop the Sated Jungler if he ever decides to start ganking 20 minutes in.

MohawkBird1 votes

I find that most Sated junglers power spike as if they are fed. Like a Sated Kayle can 1v1 anybody because of her ult. A Sated Aatrox can out heal most damage and practically even 2v1. Sated Shyvana's damage with just a BotRK is enough to 3 hit a carry, even if you aren't ahead.

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

Considering how squishy many carries are, there are many champions capable of 3-hitting them with two offensive items.

That's not exactly unique to Devourer jungler.

ButterBladesX1 votes

really now? had an udyr that barely farmed but ganked lots get all his stacks by 15 min

SoMNia2 votes

I'm tired of people thinking Devourer = AFK farming. Farming is a terrible way to build stacks. Yes, it helps, but you need to be ganking, controlling river, and securing objectives, or it's going to take forever.

I miss tanks. That was the best meta we've had in a long time since hyper-aggressive champs that kill you in 2 seconds weren't occupying every role, and instead we had tanks who had to think about where they were going and how they were going to fight - encouraging teamfight priority and player cooperation to win games.

Since this Sated BS was introduced, it shifted mindsets to unhealthy places like the whole Trick-dyr infection our games had when madstone was a thing. It encouraged neglecting lanes in favor of forever-farming the jungle for stacks. And with that mindset comes the childish idiocy you can expect from the neglectful farmer mains that slithered out of the woodwork to spam their Feral Flare junglers when Sated was put in. I just don't want them in my games anymore.

Please buff Cinderhulk or nerf devourer (don't do both,) leave Warrior alone, and I think you've done quite enough damage with Runeglaive for it to warrant Magus coming back.

Wrong, both tank meta and sated are bullshit but I will definitely take a sated jg vs the unkillable tank meta. Fuck that.

Keevalroy1 votes

They're only unkillable because people refuse to learn how to play...

Dreadlocks1 votes

Not really. Its fine to me.

LadyRenly1 votes

I love it. I honestly feel like it is balanced. Sated devourers play style is similar to that of Nasus. Supreme end game power is meaningless if defeat is in sight by the time you get it. That's the trade off to afk farming and praying to Odin that your teammates don't get smited in lane because you know that you really don't want to actually gank so early

sp4411 votes

It's because it's novel at the moment and all the high-level players are using it and everybody else follows like good little duckies. It'll be deemed completely worthless trash the second the new thing pops out.

DrtyTrolls1 votes

OP, I cannot wait until Rito nerfs the item. Cuz right now its a 4v5 game until about 25 min into the game. By that time team with sated jg has lost or given up all hope because their jg has literally done nothing all game.

Icestar11861 votes

The problem is that people with Sated are doing it wrong if they AFK farm. You stack it faster if you gank and get assists.

PROJECT Bear1 votes

I sometimes play sated jg, and while it's true the strive to get stacks makes you want to kill 'one more camp' before you gank, it's also the laner's responsibility to play to the strategy of the team. you get stacks with assists and kills too, so it's not like I'm against ganking, but ganking requires coordination.

you know the usual problems, you gank but the laner is slow to respond; the laner pushes too much, doesn't ward and is ganked before you can help. you can only gank one lane at a time, and each of the three lanes wants a gank all the time. each failed gank means less exp and gold for the jg

I think stacking jglers shouldn't go afk until sated, but laners should also adapt. for example, put more wards, and when top is lvl 6 request a gank (instead of asking from lvl 3 to lvl 6 and fade into background pings) - not that you do that, just talking in general

Krully1 votes

you do so much damage with devourer vi with bork full tank its silly

stupid item they should remove it and slap themselves for such a silly item

Partholonian1 votes

Devourer BotRK does do tons of damage, maybe too much, but any build that includes two offensive items is not "full tank".

If you build both damage items first, it hardly even qualifies as bruiser for most of the game.

Beerstein1 votes

JGs can keep up with laners now, note keep up not get ahead, they're fine JG just isn't total trash anymore get used to it.

GrammatonKleric1 votes

Hmmm... I dont even... I agree with you but not sure that this point is really fitting for this topic. Maybe I missed something. Bleh!

agbudar1 votes

see item is balanced by its own overpowered nature.

how ironic

Malix Farwin1 votes

I hate Sated because of the items strength(that's just me personally) but i love it because it forces people to learn how to lane. P.S. i am not a jg main by any stretch of the imagination i just hate it when people take solo lanes and whine for ganks all game.

GrammatonKleric1 votes

I hear you. My preferred secondary role is jg and laners complaining for ganks is really annoying, but eventually when a competent opposing jg comes to your lane (whether winning or not. unless you have just completely snowballed) you have two choices. If well warded, you can head to your turret where they may choose to dive you, or you can see the dive coming abandon turret and still lose the objective. Outcome is the same either way. Other team creates map pressure while Yi is at wolves.

Spicy Rice1 votes

im a top lane and jung main, and it really is ridiculous. That and the amount of jungle Vaynes in normals that think that they should gank a darius when they are at 150 hp, or that Jungle vayne is even viable in anything more than the derpiest of norms

MasterVidallis1 votes

That's the dynamic, if you go devourer you need to farm well. If you're good you'll still have some impact in lanes, but not as much as jun focused on ganking. If the lanes escape ganks well and don't feed early, come mid game your jungler will be stronger than theirs and you can just start grouping. You're betting on late game. Sounds like a strat with strengths and weaknesses. Which sounds balanced. Nothing to see here.

GrammatonKleric1 votes

Yeah... I don't think it is this simple. You said to avoid ganks and not feed early and i addressed this very thing in my original post. Not sure if you read it or just made your comment based on the title. All impressions given show that sated can be completed by 20 minutes with hardcore farming and a dragon. We are all saying by 20 minutes in a competent gank heavy jungle would have tower dove you resulting in a kill and an objective; dragon if mid or bot, tower if top.

Do that 4/5 times which is a reserved number of ganks to occur by 20 minutes, and objective gold alone would have made the lead almost insurmountable. Again this does not occur 100% of the time. Rarely I will get a sated jungler that will toss a gank out here and there, but most seem unaware that successful ganks help you get sated faster than jg camp exclusivity and that lack of info can be frustrating.

Spicy Rice1 votes

What do you think about Devourer Jungles that gank, like Godyr?

Lowvyr1 votes

I'm tired of it, but please, let me rofl stomp with Shyvana one more time...

Simpumba1 votes

I hate sated junglers. Almost every game I play I get a kayle, shy, yi. Who just farms all game and says. wait i though sated junglers farm all game I kid you not, it's honestly just a bad idea, most of the junglers i get are busy farming for sated.

Zair Umbras1 votes

I like finally being able to play DPS Trundle and not be called a Troll, which is ironic.

FunkmasterFunk1 votes

I have mained Master Yi since early season 4 and I've noticed that the sated changes have made him more viable than ever, but mostly because of the increased early magic damage on it, and the ability to gain 5 stacks with epic monster takedowns and 2 for scuttle takedowns. It has promoted increased vision control, objective control, and has made it possible to gank lanes early on. The sated effects are great on him as well, but he can just as easily be shut down by hard cc, so I play him the same way I always have.

Neclord1 votes

what is COUNTERJUNGLING?

Droogzy1 votes

I usually will play an Elise since her buffs into a Sated Jungler, she can provide some insane pressure in the lane that forces their jungler to come out or watch as their laners lose.

The thing is, even with defensive wards and careful play etc, the opposing team and jungler WILL play super aggressive, because why not? You're not going to be punished for it.

And shhhh about Shyvana, I've played her for the past three seasons and I'm enjoying her power in secrecy >.>
