Battle Boss Brand unfair advantage

I'm an EUW Brand one-trick and ever since the release of this skin it feels bad playing ranked with any other skins/base model. If you know how Brand's passive works, you know each ability that hits applies a stack of your passive, making it so that every spell that follows has an extra effect and when you reach three stacks you get a giant burst of damage.

Brand is an aoe teamfighter and has plenty of ways to spread his passive around the enemy team. This is pretty much what the champion is supposed to do. His ult bounces between targets and his E when used on a target that has a passive stack, spreads the passive to nearby enemies.

One of the difficult things about Brand to me has always been managing my passive in teamfights while positioning, kiting, hitting skillshots, comboing correctly, etc. You used to have to watch the fight carefully to know who got hit by your abilities and especially by how many. Teamfighting with Brand usually is very hectic since your E spreading doesn't have a very clear effect and your ult often bounces into fog of war or to places you can't see, making it hard to monitor the amount of passive stacks on each enemy champion.

This is what annoys me about this skin, in teamfights I can basically teamfight without having to even think about my passive. I can just wait for my second rotation, check who has two stacks, because it's freaking shown by the skin, and hit them with any ability that happens to be of CD to finish off a target that normally might have survived, had I not been able to see how many stacks were on them.

This happens all the time, there's plenty of situations where I'd normally peel for teammates or myself by using Q to stun a target that has passive on them, but with the new skin, I often just Q a backline target that has two passive stacks, screwing the entire backline's positioning and sometimes even winning the teamfight because of this feature.

You may be thinking this is great for Brand players, but keep in mind that not everybody owns the skin or is able to get it. I personally own it, but being a one-trick and feeling like I'm forced to always pick the same skin because it's better gameplay wise feels wrong.

Adding this feature to all other Brand skins and his base model would fix this, but just removing it would be fine as well IMO, the skin also shows the amount of ult bounces, but this doesn't really bother me that much as it's not as usefull as the passive stack indicator.

I hope to get at least a response from a rioter acknowledging this.

PS: If you're going to add the feature to his other skins, maybe give my boy a visual update while you're at it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I second that similar indicators should be visible to all brand players no matter what skin are they using.

Moonato15 votes

Yeah I'd prefer that as well, I'd be ok with them removing it from the skin though, fair is fair.

GelsominoKiller9 votes

Of course. What matters in the end is consistency and fairness. It's either every skin or none, but something has to be done.

RainbowIcee3 votes

i'm fine if they add it to all his skins, I ban brand anyways.[slayer-jinx-catface]

ironic, clearly the same can be said about your opinion.

It’s not an opinion; it’s an objective fact.

So is his statement about yours.

No one asked you, either.

you're honestly just spamming now, what i said involved the topic. What you said was just being an asshole.

Jasiwel6 votes

They did this for Kha'Zix a while back, to make the Unseen Threat indicator much more visible. I think they should definitely do the same for Brand, at least.

Tristanl0l3 votes

or... and here's a thought, let's not reduce the amount of skill required to play a champion and just remove the indicator from the offending skin?

Moonato1 votes

I said in my post that I'd be fine with them removing it.

Penta Penguin4 votes

Is Brand supposed to be a "micromanage the UI to keep track of numbers" champion or an "ignite people and burn shit" champion?

Moonato8 votes

He's supposed to track it

Penta Penguin2 votes

he can track it with a more convenient indicator, no skill lost here

Moonato2 votes

The tracker is way more clear, a lot of skill is lost

Romans VI XXIII9 votes

but to be fair pretty much all other special hit spells/abilities have trackers, really brand should have it on all skins.

Braum Fizz Darius Fiora Gnar JarvanIV Kennen Quinn TahmKench Twitch Varus Vayne Vi

Pika Fox3 votes

Having a visual indicator doesnt reduce the amount of skill though? You dont keep track of more than possibly 2 targets in a fight for passive stacks, and youre likely tapping more than just those 2 in the fight. Not to mention his visuals arent the greatest at telling you when something definitely landed.

Moonato1 votes

You really shouldn't be looking at just two enemies, Brand's just as good at killing tanks as he is at killing squishies.

Pika Fox1 votes

Realistically you cant expect someone to keep track of all the stacks on more than 2 champs without visual aid is my point. Theres too much else going on to keep track of all of whats happening + stacks on up to 5 champs.

Arcade is the cleanest skin line. Confirmed once again.XD

You still gotta actually hit stuff. So there is nothing unfair about it. It also helps the enemy if it shows to both sides but i dont remember i got Vandal Vlad and cryocore.

Moonato12 votes

How is it not an advantage if you still have to hit stuff? It has a feature none of the other skins have, Brand relies on his passive so much that this is such a handy tool to have. And sure it shows the enemy the stacks as well, but this only makes the argument that this is unfair even bigger. If it shows the enemy the stacks while it does't on other skins, they are advantaged as well.

The skin needs to be looked at because it's a really unfair feature.

Jerry SeinfeId3 votes

I mean, you could do the exact same shit with any other skin. Just keep track of your passive better then. The passive visuals even change on base brand.

Moonato12 votes

1: You can't see amount of passive stacks with any other skin.

2: I argue tracking passive stacks is a good thing, it adds skill to the champion.

3: The passive visuals change on base Brand? If you think that seeing that passive has been applied to an enemy is the same as having an extra visual effect that tells you the amount of stacks that have been applied to an enemy. Then that's probably coming from someone who doesn't play/understand the gameplay of the champ.

Jerry SeinfeId5 votes

1: You can, it's just not displayed using a number.

2: I never said anything about it being a bad thing, i'm telling you to do a better job tracking it if you want to use another skin.

3: No, just seeing it's applied doesn't change a damn thing. What does help is the fact that: at 1 stack: It's a slight burn, it's mainly a firey overlay over the champs model with some very small flames. at 2 stacks: The flames double in size (almost triple i'd dare say) at 3 stacks: Circle of death.

But ofcourse i'm not a brand onetrick like yourself. It's not like i've used Classic, Spirit fire, zombie and battle boss and never had issues with it. No not at all i just got lucky while guessing how many passive stacks i had.

Fair point dude, I'll admit I was wrong, still it's way more subtle than the battle boss brand skin. So subtle that I haven't noticed it after two seasons of Brand.

My bad

_Vayne _gets to see an alarmingly clear indicator of the number of passive stacks she has on a target... makes sense Brand should get it too.

I agree they should nerf the W base dmg but make increase it`s AP scaling by 30%

Not really relevent but hey.

I agree thought , the same thing happens with me while playing Pool Party Fiora I can't see my vital passive in team fights properly , they are very small and white colored , it's more confusing when I use ult , so I start having no idea what I'm doing

Gear5Luffy1 votes

that is why they should make every skin like project fiora who has the most vibrant colors out of all of her skins

I'm a 2 thrick and I never noticed the number thrick, omg. Thanks

As someone who dabbles in Brand support I agree 100%. This also reminds me that Diana has a somewhat similar problem with her skins. Try playing lunar goddess Diana vs playing infernal Diana. As lunar goddess or with her original it's quite easy to see when you've reached your passive rather than having to count to 3. When playing infernal Diana it's much harder to tell visually. So although it's not a big problem as you don't need to even buy a skin for her, it still sucks that even though I own infernal Diana I don't ever play it for the above reasons.

Now I regret disenchanting this skin in my Hextech Loot. [sg-janna]

TheGreatRasputin3 votes

Maybe have it be a normal flame with Classic, radiation symbols for Apocalypse, Wheels for Vandal, green fires for Zombie, blue for Cryocore, and those little imps for Spirit Fire.

ActivatingEMP2 votes

Actually there are a few skins like this: I only use blood moon talon in ranked because it is much easier for me to see the passive stacks than on other skins.

Drugoth2 votes

As a fellow Brand enthusiast who does not own this skin yet, I agree with you. I hope Riot sees your post and gives this clear indicator to base Brand and all his skins.

It's not even like it's only a good thing for Brand. Enemy players can play around this too! If Brand has you at 2 stacks you can just hang back out of his range to let them fall off and go back in again, it presents an opportunity for counterplay as well!

[zombie-brand-mindblown]

Moonato1 votes

Yeah it's just way too clear in comparison to the default indicator

Tomoe Gozen2 votes

I don't get why this is a problem. The passive stack indicators may be easier to see but Brand's passive on any other skin has pretty clear visual cues how much it is stacked on the enemy. It only has 3 levels, third being the AoE radius and a fuse that you can't miss. First stack has a tiny ember while the second one is a more prominent ember.

On the BB skin, these visual cues are harder to see (not that prominent) which is why indicators are present. And they aren't there for this reason alone, they also emulate HP/buff/debuff stack mechanic of retro vidya games, which is what Battle Boss skin line represents anyway, having pixelated visual effects.

Kídá2 votes

they should just add it to all skins. I main brand and i have the same problem in team fights

Jezbo1 votes

This is so ridiculous. If anything, the particle effects are way more visible in a fight than the actual stack indicator. It's really not a problem.

Moonato3 votes

They're really not

Sounds like what u really want is all of his variants to have this information

I legit played a game versus Battle Boss Brand yesterday and i couldn't tell which minions he had his passive on since my minions were blue. He proced his passive on me like 5 times just because i couldn't tell if the minions were ablaze or not.

The Trent1 votes

Idk if this is just because I have over a years worth of play time on League, but I've never once had trouble keeping track of brands current or old passive. It's extremely easy for me. I also have the ability to learn every ability just by look at it once now though... their entire name, cd, description, etc. League gives you some weird skills man... some weird skills...

Ztoka1 votes

I never liked that skin but that is one heck of an advantage.. Nice visual that should really be on all of brands skins.. I mean, no dif than tk, braum etc getting their hit count indicator :)

Suruntuojaa1 votes

I agree, it's quite hard to see on Zombie Brand, especially with Rylai's and Liandry's (compared to Battle Boss skin; I'm not complaining about other skins)
