Annie Support?

I have been seeing a lot of Annie supports lately. Please tell me what you guys think about Annie support. Personally, I think she just lacks the utility of an actual support. :(

It's a kill lane, just like Brand support - nothing new been around many seasons.

She doesn't bring much to her team other then a nuke stun drop every 5 minutes.

Yeah I mean it's not like a pro player ever played her at worlds or anything amirite.

Yes and no. I play a lot of Annie support and you're basically a Stun Bot. Add Gauntlet for CDR and more CC. I usually build RoA and Swift boots. Other slots vary on specific team needs. AD mid often means a Deathcap. That sort of thing.

Its okay i guess. The stuff that is telegraphed and the need for her to get a team W or Tibber really limits it. Besides her stun she doesnt offer near enough to be a go to support. If you want a stun and kills look for the best "Hard Taric I personally do play alot of off-meta support champs such as JarvanIV Yasuo Gragas Sion But they have some sort of thing that will let them actually support and baby sit rather well. They dont rely on one trick to get the ADC fed or to save them. Yasuo can even shut down Leona Blitzcrank Thresh Nautilus Due to them being so reliant on the pull or gap closer. And if the Yasuo player is any were near skilled can make great use of his Q knock up for peel and his ult for some hard CC and setting up some plays.

Annie sadly is a one trick pony that supports with one trick, a support has to be able to prepare and do a couple of things to provide helpful setups or stop the enemy from being able to do certain things. Her one stun can stop 1 person for a small time or a brief moment in a teamfight, but whoops shes done being useful for awhile. Throw a Sion into a team you have constant CC and a large tank absorbing shot after shot. Gragas can peel an entire team off his ADC and still bring a decent fight. Jarvan can lock down someone without mobility and can help push a tower earl with ease as well as a great front line tank with a hard CC initiate.

I dont mind Annie support and im far from against it, it has its place and should be done if it has been practiced and you know what you are doing with it. And hard CC on command should never immediately mean it should be a support.

The only thing she can really do to peel for her ADC is her stun. Support Annie is a kill lane which is all or nothing.

but!

Annie having her stun on the ready is sometimes enough to be able to zone out the enemy laner since they rather not take a risk being near her and risking the possibility of getting all inned.

Annie has some of the highest ratios on her abilities in the game which in turn givers her one of the highest burst in the game. Even if a bit behind - she may still able to chunk your health out, and if not; her AoE stun is great for team fights as the game progresses, but that is kinda all she can bring when the lane phase is over and roaming comes to a minimum.

Having Annie in the support role still allows her to have decent amounts of damage (maybe a little less than a high damage mid laner, depending on how far ahead Annie is), more so than other supports while opening up another position for another mid laner, which increases your teams overall damage output. Although your team may be lacking utility compared to the enemy team if they had someone like Janna.

She is not fail proof though, as a kill lane that doesn't secure kills or gets to dangerous for them to grab a kill will not go well, and of course the fact that your team will be lacking utility as Annie will just be a stun bot.

all she does is damage and it's like brand.

she has a shitty situational stun so she's "support"

I just wish there was a way to make her a more reliable support. Maybe let her cast E on her allies?

She is a kill-lane support. Not much utility. No sustain. Just high base damage from spells and a power stun combo with tibbers. Good for deleting squishy lanes like jinx/nami.
