Xerath needs a change.

Xerath has been picked very rarely in competitive. And even if he is picked, his team mostly loses the game. I guess the problem is that his kit is just not rewarding at all. And that neither with mobility or any big combos other than E-W-Q/W-E-Q. Those "combos" can only one shot if you are fed, but not if you got "normal" stats and do not give the player any big advantage, like Ryze, who gets his shield and movement speed. So I would like to ask a Rioter from the balancing team, if there is any chance to make this champion more rewarding or mobile.

I am a Xerath main, but feel like this champ just has not much self-synergy at all. That is why I would like to see some slight changes about rewardingness, even though we had the mage update half a year ago.

He indeed has a very high uwinrate listening to champion.gg/op.gg but i guess that is just Solo Q and many scripters.

A short response what you do think about Xerath in general and in competitive would really interest me, just to know if there are more people thinking like me, and if there is any chance about a some synergy/rewardingness changes about

Xerath, the Magus Ascendant

Thank you.

Xerath has more advantages in less coordinated environments.

  • Your 4 teammates got into a teamfight while you were on the opposite side of the map? Ult and help them.
  • Your team is standing around mid while the enemy team is standing around mid? Q them over and over again.
  • No one warded Baron/Dragon and you don't see the enemy team? Ult to check if they're doing it.
  • Someone chasing to kill an ally? Ult to force them to back off or die to you.
  • Someone trying to run away from your front line? Ult them to force them to either dodge or take damage.

There's a lot of power in his ultimate and using it correctly. Pro teams can negate a lot of that power, not so much for the 99.9% of us not in pro play.

He should've been reverted years ago.

It's a poke mage, not a oneshot mage.

Fun fact, we see a lot of Poke Comps with Jhin/Varus/Jayce but Xerath never pops up (nor does Lux or Ziggs) but I guess that's because there are some items and masteries that are just too good on ADs to have APs designed for that job take place in the field.

There have been a LCS game with a Xerath, he did awesomely early game but once ppl have started teamfighting his contribute to them was null due to the fact that there is no reward in landing skillshots on ppl tankier than full damage ADCs.

um. You poke with your Q and then engage on a full combo with your E when they're low. Get fed and you can start oneshotting. He's not meant to instantly oneshot lol. Thus his incredible Q range

Xerath is supposed to poke you down not burst you down from half way across the screen

I have to disagree here - Xerath is strong. He has a consitently high winrate and brings alot to a team. Mindlessly buffing him would be bad.

Sadly and that's my main problem with him, no matter how well you play or how much you help your team - he always feels bad to use because of his extremely underwelming visuals and sounds as well as his non existant identity.

Compared to old Xerath the new one feels lackluster, his actual balance state doesn't matter.
