Please Explain Whats New

Okay so I have been off the game for a few years, checked back in last year and stuff was different, didn't want to figure it out so I dropped it... and now I come back again ready to figure it out and it's like the entire thing is missing.

Can some one explain how to operate the new LOL platform? Where are the Rune pages, and the Runes I purchased? Where are the masteries? And the Item selector and Item set maps? Please help me navigate this new layout.

Since last preseason runes and masteries have been replaced by « runes reforged », a new system similar to masteries but with more power put in it. The system work as such: There is 5 trees, each with 3 normal rows and a keystone row. You pick a tree and a rune per row. Then you can choose a secondary tree from which you can pick two runes. You will also be given bonus stats relative to your primary and secondary tree. Runes and items set can be found in the « collection » tab. You have 5 example rune page (1 for each tree, not customizable) and can create up to [2+number of rune page you own] customizable rune pages. RP and Blue essence also have been fused, level cap removed (you get a capsule at each level, it’s like a chest openable without key). You can gain Blue essence only by disenchanting champion shards (wich are now much more common) or by completing missions (outside of events, the only one avalaible is the daily matchmaking win).

Thank you. So what is blue essence? last time i played you had RP and KP and you got KP from matches, and used them to buy marks seals runes and quintessence. (All of which are now missing, DO I get comped for that?) also, you said you get blue essence for each level... I was at L29 when I last played, did I get the back pay of Blue essence or will those 29 levels worth just be mia? also what are champion shards? they didn't have those last time.

A mistake in my part. Blue essence haven’t been fused with RP but with what you call KP. All your KP should have been automatically converted to BE. Compensastion in the form of BE have been given for rune bought after January-February 2017 (almost a year before the change). There is also other compensation for anyone: if you you bought 50,000 KP worth of runes/runes page you should have gotten a exclusive icon and if you bought 150,000KP worth an exclusive ward skin. You don’t get compensated for being level 29 because before the change you would gain an hextech chest every level. Champion shards are something you can find in your loot (hextech chest icon near the top-right corner). You can obtain them in hextech chest and caspules, and can do the following with them:

consume it to unlock the corresponding champion for a week
Disenchant it for BE
Enchant it with BE to unlock the corresponding champion permanently
use it instead of BE for the mastery 6 & 7 unlocks of the corresponding champion. Also, like KP used to, BE can be used to buy champion in the shop (though it’s much cheaper to enchant the shard if you have it)
