What doesn't make sense to me is that "common knowledge" was supposed to be that the "reset" sends you partway back towards average MMR (Silver 4/5).
If that's really the case, why does someone in high bronze go farther down, hmm? I smell BS.
I'm sorry to all of the Diamond/Master/Challenger players who get sent back to Platinum 1, but that shouldn't mean everyone else has to drop a full tier as well. If it's for example halfway back towards the average, the highest ranked players would have twice as far to fall!
Anyways, at least from what I've seen others encountering, Riot for some reason decides to place you low but your MMR is actually a fair bit higher than where they place you. This results in wins giving +26 or more LP while losses give -15 or less. Maybe they think players get over the shock of a low rank and enjoy it more when they climb easily? I didn't volunteer to be part of a psychology experiment so I'm not happy about them doing it that way, but w/e. Try playing a few more and see if you gain a lot of LP for your wins. Hopefully you will and it will mean you can climb pretty quickly even with a 50% win rate. Not to mention promo helper will help you a lot and you may end up skipping divisions.
