Xin Zhao rework ideas

This is my idea for a Xin Zhao rework. Although I personally have no problem with the way Xin Zhao is, most low-elo players hate him for "being too strong", and most high-elo players ignore him for being having too basic and unreliable abilities for teamfighting and dueling.

So, to throw what I believe is a decent idea out there, I have created the following ability rework Ideas. Enjoy.

Passive: Three-Talon-Strike

Xin's basic attacks, Cresent Sweep, and Audacious Charge apply stacks of challenge. Challenge stacks each reduce the target's armor by 5%. This may reach up to 3 stacks and lasts for 5 seconds. Basic attacks refresh the timer. Upon reaching 3 stacks, Xin Zhao also gains 20% bonus movement speed when moving in the direction of the Challenged enemy. Every third auto-attack on an enemy champion that is challenged will heal Xin for 25/50/75 +( 10% AP scaling). There is no limit on how many enemies may be challenged at a given point.

Q: Crescent Sweep Cooldown: 10/0.5/9/8.5/8 Range: 300 Knockback range: 50-350

Xin Zhao sweeps a circle around him, stunning enemies for .5 seconds and knocking them back, as well as dealing 130/155/180/205/230 +( 75% bonus AD) physical damage. The closer an enemy is, the further they will be knocked back. If an enemy has 3 stacks of challenge, then they will not be knocked back and will instead be stunned for 1 second.

W: Spear lift Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 Range: melee

Xin Zhao lifts his enemy with his spear, knocking them up for .75/.875/1/1.125/1.25 seconds and dealing 50/70/90/110/130 +( 100% AD) physical damage. This will not apply a stack of challenge.

E: Audacious charge Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 Range: 400 Spear spin range: 200

Xin Zhao dashes in the target direction, dealing 55/80/105/130/155 +( 50% bonus AD) physical damage. Upon reaching an enemy champion or large/epic monster, he stops his dash. When he stops his dash, he will spin his spear in a circle around him for 30/50/70/90/110 +( 70% AP scaling) magic damage. Both his dash and spear spin will apply stacks of challenge.

R: Final Blows Cooldown: 89/76/63

Passive: Xin zhao's every 3rd basic attack will critically strike for 140/155/170% damage. Active: Xin zhao marks the nearest enemy within 1000 units of him. For the next 6 seconds, Challenged enemies will receive -20% armor and -20% magic resist instead of -15% armor, the marked target will receive all 3 stacks of challenge upon taking damage from Xin Zhao, and the Xin will receive 40% bonus move speed when moving toward the marked enemy (move speed overrides challenge move speed).

Pros:

  • Xin now has a more USEFUL ultimate (my opinion)
  • Xin no longer relies solely on basic attacks
  • More skillshots on basic abilities means that abilities take slightly more skill to land, raising the skill floor
  • Skillshot on dash means that Xin has more means of escaping after entering a fight than he currently does
  • Changing his passive to a stacking ability means that he no longer gains armor shred bonuses instantly
  • Xin can do what his character is meant to do: declare challenges and 1v1s against enemies, even pre lvl 6 (since ult is now on Q). -Xin zhao now has slightly more CC

Cons:

  • Untested (therefore unknown if this is op or underpowered)
  • Xin Zhao's new W may be considered too similar to Blitzcrank's E
  • New point and click W is guaranteed CC

Please post comments below on what you think about this possible change. If you have a problem with the kit, please explain it thoroughly and I will do my best to balance it.

The main issue with him is that he fits into the class of divers that riot hates. His only playstyle is to use everything (almost) at once and kill them with a fuckton of attack speed and on-hit effects.

That being said, i want to see how your ideas fit together. Can you give me a heads up when you finish?

Dabrick01, I am now done. what do you think?

I think it is really neat. One thing I liked about him (which is also what made him stale) was that everything was triggered after a certain amount of autos. It was up to proper positioning and use of your E to stick to a target.

You did a really good job of keeping that core to him. I like how you gave him other ways to stick onto his target in the form of his Ult and Passive rather than relying on his E slow and enough AS to get the knock-up.

All that being said, one of the things I liked about him was his ability to fucking DESTROY the enemies positions in a teamfight. I've seen pro Xins ult in the perfect spot to where the frontline tanks are shot over the backline. The rest of his team uses something like Sivir Ult to move in and destroy the now out of position backline and then Xin can clear up the tanks with his percent heath DMG.

One thing I would do is half the healing values you put on his ult and put it back on his passive. He does not have the sustain he needs in the JG. Then, when he activates his ult, the healing doubles or increases making him a sustained threat.

I'm not the best person to suggest balancing Xin or how the values you proposed fit into the meta. I like what you did overall, but he needs to still have the threat of completely splitting apart a team, and making his ult a basic ability may not cut it. If you give him too much sticking power, his on hit effects combined with the armor shred he has and can get might be too much. IDK tho.

Interesting. I'll consider what you said. Just saying though, the main reason why I put the healing onto his ult is so that he can't do his lvl 3 solo drag.

I think his q would be too strong , he can knock people out position every 8 seconds at max rank not taking into account cdr, is their anything to compensate for his attack speed steroid?

mistermath3141 votes

Sure, he can knock people with his Q. but i reduced the knockback range, and also remember that if an enemy has 3 stacks of challenge they aren't knocked back. Also, what attack speed steroid?

Login to upvote this thread as I think this is very interesting idea. Hopefully get Riot attention for Xin Zhao rework.

A few suggestion, his Charge could get some damage as he dashes through, then another physical damage as he sweep around. Ulti: final challenge: target an enemy champion, gain movement speed when moving toward them. His next basic attack will apply all stack of Challenge and gain him addition attack speed. Every third basic attack against this target will critical strike.

This utility seems loaded at first but with proper stat i think this will work.

Thank you.

His E already deals damage twice if you read carefully, so i don't think that needs change. I'll think about the ulti.
