Match making. Why is it so broken?

So lately my games have been filled with anything from diamonds to plats to bronze fives in the normal queue at least according to the lolnexus searches. The reason why this is weird is because I am silver five and play with a bronze three friend all the time and we used to get matched against ranks such as bronze five up to silver two with a rare game here and there which contained a gold five or similar ranking player. What in the flying fiora is going on? The only thing I can think of is that people are purchasing higher ranked accounts and then getting their MMR throttled because they play so badly. I watched what was supposed to be a platinum two enemy flash into the turret and take a turret shot along with a plethora of skill shots because he didn't juke them and apparently was unaware of the turret's range (not usually something you see a higher elo player doing). Anyways I just thought I'd share my thoughts and opinions and maybe get some feedback on what is going on.
