As a viktor main, I would like to give some insight on the subject of nerfing him. As soon as he gets more popular being seen in streams in such, i think he might become a common champion. He has been seeing a bit more play at high elo solo queue. He is generally built as a one shot mage because he has no mobility and a stun that takes 1.5 seconds to stun if you stand in it. His q requires him to be in regular auto range to get the damage off. His E is hard to hit. Those abilities are balanced. What isnt balanced is that his ult has minimal penalties for being certain distances from viktor. If a full ult is landed on a target, it does the base dmg plus 195% of viktors ap. It allows him to fight back instead of getting blown up himself due to his mobility and squishyness. Only a fraction of that 195% comes as initial burst. What is op is the tracking speed of his singularity. It can easily follow champions because the move speed of the singularity does not get larger penalties for being farther away from viktor. One of the weaknesses of viktor is that he can not make you stay and fight him like a champ such as lissandra can (as well as one shotting you if shes ahead). If the chaos storm received a ms nerf AS THE ULT GETS FARTHER AWAY FROM VIKTOR, if would allow another way to outplay viktor as well as just dodging the initial cast in general. The ms nerf would reward viktor for surprising his victims using vision and such to channel the full ult in close range, but would allow an option to not die to the enemy champion (ex getting out of range of the radius where his ult moves fast via flash). You could also add the pre nerf ult speed to his last core augment so it feels more meaningful to purchase. I like the numbers he has on his abilities the way it is now. He feels really "right" to play. I dont want riot to change the core gameplay that is viktor. I like that he plays a little bit like old viktor also minus the silence. If in the future he becomes popular, i would like riot to reference this post so that viktor stays the champion that i love to play! SORRY FOR WALL OF TEXT. According to my experience and wiki, it already does that:

The singularity moves faster depending on its proximity to Viktor, but will always move at maximum speed when moving towards him.

I meant the nerf to apply even more penalty for it being at farther range from viktor.

My problem with Viktor's ult is that it feels like it relies so much on the initial burst.

At max level, you deal 350 (+55% AP) instantly, and to get that much damage out of the ult you have to hold it on the enemy for 3 seconds.

I find myself using this AoE, DoT storm as more of an execute than what it seems to be intended as, and I doubt I'm alone in that.

If Riot wanted to nerf* Viktor, I could see them removing the initial damage and uping the DoT to make the total damage the same.

*Note: nerf in this context implies the following:

  • Viktor isn't being reduced to a sub 40% win rate
  • Viktor isn't being boosted to a win rate over 55%

I feel this is also an option. They could do that, but it is an ULTIMATE that does 150 initial dmg at rank 1 with a lackluster initial 55% ap ratio. This is why i feel if they have to, the tracking speed would get a bigger penalty more than it has now. For an ultimate those numbers look fine. I like to compare viktor to lissandra because she has alot of burst and a lot more mobility and utility. For example, her ult has a 350 base dmg, .7 ap ratio and either invulnerability or 1.5 second stun that is aoe. That is alot better than viktors ult........... but if viktor can keep the storm on his target..... which is why if they are going to, take the ms from the ult even more so than now. Being an experienced viktor player, the potential to outplay comes with how long you can expose them to dmg and hitting the skillshots. Slowing the ult speed even more than now makes it easier to outplay viktor and not receive the full duration.

I guess hes not as op as i thought he was. NA LCS hasnt seen him win once yet. Im not up to date with korean ogn. If someone could inform me of a place i could get this info?
