autofill vs extended queue time

Hi. I've been stuck in S4-S2 for quiet a while now. My main role is ADC, and ofc I do what I can to support when the autofill comes up. BUT... I've now experienced multiple times, including getting a ban once for being sold out on the bot lane. People with autofill support roles usually tend to pick something like a lux, brand, or teemo support. I've seen good lux and brand supports in my time on the botlane, but in comparison to the games I've had the last couple of months. You get a support who doesn't want to support much too often. They go with you to red/blue, follows to lane and gets their lvl 3, then begins to roam the entire map. You left there 1v2 trying to just pick the few cs until tower goes down and hopefully without tilting.

It's sickening to get into this kind of games so often and it's like you can tell it's going to be a loss already at lvl 3.

The part of this that actually gets to piss me off is that you can't do anything when these people are in the game. You have no chance of winning the game unless you manage a 4v5 with economy advantage to the enemy team as the troll keeps throwing gold at them. You need to wait 20 mins for that. I would rather wait those 15-20 mins longer that an obvious lost game takes to end, to get into a game where the support has actually somewhat agreed to play that role.

  • Am I the only one in LoL who would like to wait 5-10 mins longer to get an actual game, or at least to have the opportunity to "autofill" to claim a shorter queue time ? At least those who trolls on autofills would more likely just not activate it. Also is there any information anywhere on riots work with this autofill stuff?

Support's job is to help the team, not hold your hand and coddle you all game. The lane is only as strong as the weakest player.

Yes, while some players don't understand how roaming works it is very essential to roam if you want to be as effective as possible as a support.

If you as the ADC are getting caught out/struggling heavily when the support roams then it is your fault.

I seriously doubt the players he is playing with know when to roam.

It also is the supports job to carry the adc, so that the adc can carry late. That doesn't mean he can't roam or whatnot- but your statement is wrong.

Its also not essential to roam, if you have a wining lane its essential to stay- if you have something can't gank mid its a waste of time. Too many blanket statements here, you could both be right with spin.

The only point correct is the getting caught. A good adc should just leave tower if they can't keep it and freeze once its down early. Which will screw over the enemy botlane.

Maybe you meant the best, but with a name like ViciousSummoner, I doubt it.

Lol wait... wtf? You're trying to tell ME how to play support when YOU can barely play ADC? How does that work exactly?

Oh, wait it doesn't work. It doesn't.

Nice try though bud. Go learn so more about the game and then come back.

No you are not, and no, it wouldn't be 5-10 minutes.

A lot of people don't understand this. It's gonna be 30 seconds at first, then 2 minutes, then 10 minutes, then 30 minutes and so on.

If there is a bottleneck, its for a reason. Most likely that a certain class isn't being played. Figure that out and fix it if possible. Do not autofill people into that role. Especially after you went to the all the trouble to allow players to pick lanes. Its...silly, to put it nicely.

Either allow role selection, or go back to what it used to be- it doesn't make sense to do half and half. You just end up with shit games and short q times.... which translates to a frustrated player base.

Bottlenecking doesn't apply to a game like league because of how large the population is and the fact that players who finish a game are put back into the queue pool. This, along with the fact that every player much pick 2 roles and. It just 1 means that queue times in solo queue will only go up a maximum of a few minutes even without autofill.

Contrary to popular belief, queue times prior to autofill was only marginally higher than after. However, since this happened during dynamic queue when so many players stopped playing the game, most people playing now weren't actually around for the change to realize how small the difference actually was.

Yeah, I've been pissed about this issue as well. It's even worse being a support main, wanting to adc for a game or two, and then both those games are troll supports who steal everything haha.

There actually was no autofill back in the days of Teambuilder, and the queue times were pretty cancer. Then again, if you supported you insta-queued and everyone loved you.

I still don't understand why it's so hard for some people to just suck it up and support for a game. Am I crazy, because I really don't think it's that bad?

Autofill is cancer. 100%. Insanely bad idea, although I understand the purpose... however it was a self inflicted problem with the new system that CAUSED autofill to be needed. So.. there is that.

MMR is broken, so its all a big farce, which is why matchmaking feels like shit. They are measuring with inaccurate data to begin with- so it just spirals. That is why games are crap.

Time is irrelevent, because matching is based on bad data. That is why it keeps getting worse every season. The more popular the game becomes, the more obvious the problem becomes.

The #1 place attention should be focused at the moment is on the bottom of the ranked ladder. If you can sort out that garbage, the rest of the ladder will automatically work. Give it time and it will balance. Then don't reset it in the new season, just to the bottom 5 of divisions. New players all start in bronze 5, no promos. No mmr, just let it sort by elo.

That would work, except that players can make multiple accounts in order to freely 'practice' and troll in low elo. You know, shit on kids. Make the game fun...

Need to tie accounts to phone numbers, or some sort of unique identifier. Then have a master account with all other accounts as children. Then you can keep everyone in their elo. Then you can control smurfs. Then you can POSSIBLY attain ladder balance. Which also means you have to have a reset or something... or require all accounts to be attached to a phone to play the game- with confirmations.

Until you do those things, the ladder will always be fucked up and random. You also have to do ALL of those things, or it won't work. I'm also probly missing things because this is just off the cuff. Like people using others phone numbers that don't play the game... how to prevent that.

Anyways, theres work to be done boys. The game is flailing about like a dying fish.
