Question about getting to master level 6

I just received the second lee sin token from getting an S, to improve to level 6. But I can't get to level 6 without upgrading using essence or champ shards? I have neither the shard or the 500 essence but obviously own lee sin, can someone help explain the system here

You can either get Chests and Keys from games. You get a Chest if either you or someone in your premade group (if you're playing with friends or whatever) get at least an S on a champion they haven't gotten an S yet for this season. Keys are randomly dropped throughout games. Win/Loss doesn't seem to affect droprate.

You can also buy chests/keys with RP.

You can also just buy champion shards with IP.

Through one of these 3 ways, you will get a champ shard. Disenchant it and you will get blue essence.

I bought a champ shard once and got Nami (a currently 975 champion) and got something like ~370 blue essence if that helps.

You are correct in that you also need essence or the champ shard.

You can buy a mystery coin thing from the store (for ip) that gives your a random champion shard though, so you can do that to potentially get a lee sin shard, and if not you can disenchant whatever champion shard you do get for essence. 2 or 3 shard disenchantments should be enough.
