What would be more effective for fiora mid/top ? I always bought the long sword but I see other people using Doran's Blade, so which is better or is it based on the champion? item 1036 v s item 1055

long sword gives what, 2 extra damage? Big whoop. I would only justify longsword is if you wanna rush something

Longsword start is better. With Doran's you have to hold on to it for a long time to make up for gold you sacrifice for that little bit of sustain. The % lifesteal doesn't even really do much until you get more damage to make it work as a good sustain option... and as an early game sustain option it is far outclassed by health potions because of this. You get more bully potential out of longsword and pots due to the higher ad and potions. Longsword start also lets you get the refillable potion at the start of the game if you think you need it or want the corrupting potion for lane dominance. Also you are essentially 750 gold ahead going toward your final build by starting longsword (assuming longsword works as a component into a final build item) compared to starting d-blade.

Edit: Why the downvotes? Do you people really think dorans gives better early sustain or something? Do you not understand opportunity cost or do you just not understand numbers?

Longsowrd Scales a bit better into late and gives more sustain for the early lane(till first back usually). Dorans gives a better early all-in due to the health, and scales well into mid, especially if you get a second one. It also gives more sustain after some time, as the constant 3% lifesteal sooner or later catches up to the 2 aditional pots, after dealing a total of 1k damage with AAs to be precise. Getting 2 dorans early really can give you an edge in close matchups. If you are very confident in your laneing or think you have an easy matchup, Longsword is better, as it allows to finish core items faster.
