Okay so I recently bought Ekko and tried him in different roles with different builds but for me tank Ekko seems to be whats working best. So I tried him as support a couple games and did pretty decent. Thoughts on this? http://prntscr.com/9xhdzt
Not much of a support without a sightstone. Also, I would get the shield item instead of coin if your going to be a tank support. You could go Sightstone into Eye of the Equinox, and then have plenty of room for other items. Probably want to rush Locket or Banner if your actually going to be a support.
If your asking the viability of an off meta support, ask these two questions. 1) Can this champion function without the need for levels or items, and still bring something meaningful to the fight? and 2) Does he offer something that would be useful in the Duo lane?
I would assert that Ekko doesn't quite fit the bill. He may be a Utility Assassin, but he's still an Assassin, and his primary goal is damage. (even for his Tanky build) Which you wouldn't be able to pull off safely from support itemization. And his all in nature doesn't help unless you have extremely good tank abilities for a support. (Alistar or braum.)
