Mastery points system is bs

Hello. I just have one question about the mastery system. Why is it so stupid? I can go 20/0 and lose and get less mastery points than if I go 0/20 and win. And its just just a small bit less, its like 4 times less. i thought mastery points were about how good you are at the champion and not how much you can get carried by other people that are already good at their champions. Just a burning question in my mind about a system that lets my flaunt my prowess on champs.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one. I'm about 609k on Rengar. But I really hate that they put the outcome of the game before the performance of the player with their champ. The outcome of the game should be a minimal positive or negative thing to affect your score and your K/D/A+farm+towers should come first to be the judge of how much points you receive.

You read my mind: was thinking of posting basically this. Like you said: why is the mastery of my champion dependent on the performance of my allies?? Really bugs me when I'm on the slow grind to that 1mil :)

It's a bit silly but it would be hard to keep it accurate if it worried about stats so it's easier to make it worry about the winning and losing. In the end, winning is important anyway so it's like whatever. Maybe it should've been more like you can't get to 3, 4, or 5 without getting some S grades, but at that point you'd need loading screen icons for levels 2-3 as well. At any rate, you can still get S grade while losing, so take that into consideration.

But the thing is, is that if i do get an S while losing, I will only get a small fraction of the mastery points, which is what this whole post is about. the fact that i can play like a god but get drastically less points than if I play terribly and win.

I'm not saying they can't do a better job of programming recognition of champion mastery, but they admitted a while ago that the grade system needed work. If they just looked at your grade until the worked on code got updated, people could rise in mastery too fast by abusing the weakness in the code. I think they updated the grades for supports significantly, not sure if also for other team slots, but personally it's a difficult thing and I can see why it wouldn't be a priority. I think the thing that annoys me the most about the current system is if you're trying to get mastery level 4/5 for loading screen recognition for your allies and you're like 1 win away and you keep losing.
