mid laners dont belong in the support role
Please just remove spellthiefs its terrible viegar,lux,annie,zyra those arent supports those are mid laners who have no place in the bot lane. rito please im over it.

how dare players play what they want where ever they want
traditional support champions specifically designed for the support role usually outperform the role swapping champions
But what about all the other spellthief users?
I cant imagine many of these champions being good for last hitting creeps or walking up to get coins?
Mages can't peel their adc or enchance in any way
I mean the thing is a lot of them are immobile and scale really poorly if you don't feed them, they are all squishy too
Like if they harass over creeps just call ur jgl over and it's gg because they'll probably not spend gold on control wards bc their builds are really gold hungry
They have counterplay and are interactive in lane, imo they're really not an issue for the game
I like seeing stuff like this. So, you mean to say support role specifically shouldn't have mid lane champions? I've seen taric and alistar top lane because of a simple fact:
support champions generally have higher base stats and damage than most other champions in solo lanes! Look at darius for example into taric. Dude can't 1v1 him at all, he just gets crushed by grasp taric.
First there is nothing concrete saying that there "HAS" to be a support role, or any role for that matter. It simply became the meta or standard since it worked out so well. So Riot balanced the game around this meta.
A support is meant to help the adc absorb as much money as possible during laning phase. Basically you need a champion that can survive off of scraps and still be useful. This can be filled with tanks mages or "utility mages" (dont know what else to call them) but basically mages that are squishy and dont do dmg but can cc, shield, heal, all that stuff.
There are plenty of reasons these "Mid Laners" are being played in the support role. Such as low mana cost and good sustain, Dmg, CC, or even just how it fits into the team comp. Alot of the time Adc's dont need more shielding or healing to thrive in lane but rather they need someone to poke and deal dmg for them.
Late game it works alot better in some cases for your team to have another mage.
There isnt a restriction on which champs can go in what role. Or that there is even any specific role. Its more of just "guidelines"
You're just asking for those mage supports to swap to 
which gives more mana sustain btw.
