Champ Limits and forced roles
I've been playing league of legends for the past week after a long nearly 2 year break. I was never a fan of mobas simply due to the unending imbalances and heavy reliance on others for just a good game. I noticed that player behavior hasn't changed much in my 2 year absence. People still scream and shout over a game like their life depended on it over their teammates dying first while making excuses when it's them.
While I enjoy playing LoL to a degree and it definitely has its attractions It always bothered me how players were "forced" into a very specific role. This is further dictated by what champions are able to fulfill that role. My reason for stating that is that over the last week I noticed that the champion imbalance is much worse than it was then. Yi, Jax and Teemo and Nidalee still haven't been balanced properly to fit along with the other champs and Zed and Yasuo are still melting everything. Frankly I'm surprised how unattended so many aspects of the game are by the devs.
Players are forced to pick their roles first then their champs, It's another reason I prefer to play lesser used champs. However the imbalance seems to have reached a point where we see the same champs in nearly every match and from my count that's about dozen of them that are dominating. Now lets say you set up your runes and masteries for two of your champions, now lets say one or both champs have been taken, or lets say that the roles your champs fulfill have been taken. Then your out of luck, pick whats left and hope for the best.
I used to play Ziggs because I liked his playstyle and character design and the fact most people don't play him, despite being great at being an annoyance in lanes he is lackluster regardless of how you build him at least that was the case 2 years ago. He still seems to have a lot of issues which haven't been looked at, but hes still fun to play. When Aatrox came out I made the mistake of spending my IP points on him, while I liked his design and play-style I was forced into a single effective build because of his limiting mechanics. He has a distinct disadvantage against many champs to his advantages over a few. I also picked up Azir a week ago and have been having a blast playing with him due to the unique way he plays, but once again I am forced to solely go mid with him. He isn't decent at anything else. Bot lane can be done with him if hes facing a favorable matchup, which are far and few between. Not to mention how squishy he is. I heard he got a massive nerf which surprised me considering how long it's taking them to fix champs that have been a round for years. I haven't been around for his "golden time", but it's hard to imagine him ever being as threatening as Yi, Zed, jax, Nidalee, Lux, Teemo or Yasuo and a couple others.
tldr: LoL is fun to play until you start taking it a bit seriously due to the forced roles most champions play and the roles certain champions can only play. Champion imbalance seems to have gotten worse as well.
