What's the secret to playing Gnar?

Realize that mini gnar has the lowest base stats in the game, so you need to keep a safe distance while poking.

Pretty much have to max your W first and try to 3 hit them since it does alot of damage, which is great early game. This alongside the grasp of the undying and you can keep yourself sustained.

Also depends on the match up and on the items you build. You usualy want to start Black Cleaver, then tank items. Maybe a frozen mallet if you're ahead to help you kite.

Save your E for escapes or if you hope you can counter play your oponent by juking them.

If you can't get the 3 hits for your W, you won't win the trade oftentimes, especially against other ranged champs. Fish for hits with your Q and then try to get the two autos in. Your hop counts for your W's passive but it leaves you with no escape, and usually forces you to go behind them. It will increase your attack speed, too, don't forget about that

Also, your laner is watching for your transformation. You can play around this by simply walking at them once you transform. No E. Just run up to them and attack if you get near them. If they move back, you're zoning them from creeps. If they fight you, you will probably win that trade, but you still have your E for a quick getaway if it gets bad.
