I'd like your thoughts on some theoretical jungle mechanics.

Introduction to the Poster: Greetings, denizens of the Boards! My name is Wheatloaf (formerly known as TemporalDonut and Bermeme Sanders). Some of you may have seen my name floating around here and there in the comments section of various posts, but under the assumption most of you don't know me (I may have been here a while, but it's not like I comment all that often, and I post even less), I'm introducing myself here. Something irrelevant to the discussion I want to have today is that I'm a Vel'Koz main, and something that is relevant to the discussion is that I am a Game Design and Development major at Rochester Institute of Technology. I'm trying to get a little better at communicating with people, and as part of that exercise, I'd like to see if I can't post a little more regularly on here (though whether I continue or not also depends on how my posts are received and whether I have ideas for posts that I consider worthwhile). Expect my content to be a little less informative than some of the big names on campus, and more focused on what you guys think about different topics; I'm not very good at teaching, but I like learning, and I know I can learn a lot from all of you. With that, I'm in your care.

Introduction to the Post: As you may have gathered from the title, I'm interested in knowing what all of you think about some theoretical (and appropriately vague) jungle mechanics! I'm only one guy, and my friends aren't very cooperative, so I'm turning to the Boards for feedback, with your wealth of game knowledge and opinions (try as you might to bury them all underneath memes and Yasuo hate threads). I've been toying around with some champion concepts, which won't see the light of days for months at least (if they see it at all), so consider these directions I'm looking at, but don't want to jump on without at least trying to understand how they would affect the game:

  • What are your thoughts on a mechanic that let a champion get gold and exp from jungle monsters without killing them, but in a completely different vein from Ivern - the jungle creeps were still there, and another champion could still kill them for normal gold/exp?
    • If you think that would be the most OP thing since sliced bread, what rules or restrictions can you think of to put on such a mechanic to make it not ruin ranked for the next 6 months?
    • Expanding on this question, what other mechanics would be interesting choices to support a dedicated Double Jungle strategy? What types of champions would you imagine them working well on?
  • How about a mechanic that allowed a champion to clear jungle camps in a set amount of time? I know this one would affect how predictable the jungler's clear is, but I'm not sure if it would be 100% guaranteed crippling at high ELO, or a valid mind game. Ivern's passive is definitely a version of this, where the problem of predictability was solved by letting him go around and do whatever for most of the time he needs to take a camp.
    • Once again, what rules or restrictions would you add to the mechanic to make it not a terrible idea?
  • Did any of the above make you think of the Next Big Thing in the jungle, but you're worried that because it's not related to one of my questions I might lynch you if you comment it below? Fear not, internet-dweller! Wheatloaf will steal accept all responses with open arms! I'm only one man, after all, and I guarantee you I've forgotten at least 15 things I wanted to say just in this post! I can't come up with all of the interesting things ever, or even remember all the ones I do come up with, so every little bit helps, and there are no stupid comments (and just because I said that I expect at least one of you to try. Go ahead. Come at me).

I'm not exactly expecting a huge turnout for this, but if you're here, thank you for your time. I spent a few hours over the last day or two fiddling with the wording and formatting, since this is not only an important (for me) discussion post, but also something like my introduction to the Boards community, so once again, I thank you for taking the time to read it (I hope I'm not doing that too much...). Because I got too distracted in the shower, I've got another post that should be going out at about the same time as this one, with a bit of a different feel (since it's actually just me translating literal shower thoughts into an unwieldy paragraph and calling it a post), but this was the important post, since it'll be hard for me to do anything with these ideas without some outside thoughts. Obviously that means I'll be reading every comment I can, so if you've got any questions for me, I'll answer what I can. I've probably forgotten a lot of things I wanted to say across this post, but it's been 2 days, worlds are almost starting, and I've already almost completely rewritten all 3 of the major paragraphs here multiple times. I'm going to cut myself off the usual way and just stop writing.
