Riot, seriously, why don’t you just make Ezreal have to auto for Klepto?

It’s pretty obvious that Klepto keystone is a problem on Ezreal. Why is it a problem? Well, shooting a low cd long range skill shot with relatively low mana cost is giving Ez tons of gold.

Ez, who is a champion that desperately needs to hit their item spike ahead of the enemy.

Ez who hits a brick god damn wall once crit based ADCs match him in items.

So, Riot is taking away damage scaling on a champion that already scales badly vs his crit based counterparts. This will probably work just a bit. You’ll see his winrate curve move down and to the left, but it will still be too high before 30 mins.

Trouble is that Ez will absolutely have to take Klepto now to compete. Eventually when riot wises up and fixes the problem, this will put Ez back where he was before they buffed Q ratio: the dumpster. He won’t even be able to jungle anymore, most likely, since the Q buffs are what helped enable that.

Riot, please just do the right thing here:

Make Ezreal auto attack to proc Klepto. This forces him to have to actually trade to proc it like any other ADC.

Remember: Klepto isn’t even broken on Gangplank, which seemed like the obvious place it would be broken! Why? It’s a point and click spell with much lower range. He can’t blind shoot it into your dumb support or adc that doesn’t stand behind minions.

I realize this is harder than just lol nerfing a damage ratio due to the way Mystic Shot is coded, but it’s what has to be done if you don’t want to nerf Kleptomancy directly.

but how would that work? like someone said the ability itself is coded as an auto attack, if it were to no longer be coded as a auto attack that would be a huge nerf to triforce/lichbane ezreal

His Q applies on hit-effects,. I don't know why you think Kleptomancy should be an exception to this, but not every other rune or item?

Proposed Solution:

KLEPTOMANCY - Passive: 0.75s 0.6s after using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds has 25 bonus range. If the attack is against a champion, you gain 5 Gold. Occasionally, you will gain a consumable item instead. If you gain a consumable item while your inventory is full, the consumable will instead be consumed.

By adding in a tiny delay between when Klepto is activated and when it can be proc'ed, abilities that proc on-hit effects cannot both activate AND proc Klepto. Ezreal would have to Q, THEN land an AA to proc it. Meanwhile, everyone else should be just firing an ability then AA'ing to proc Klepto without having to change anything else in their pattern.

The delay time might have to be tweaked, as I don't know Ezreal's Q missile speed and max range. Guess it's time to do the math. Ezreal's Q has a missile speed of 2000, and range of 1150. That means when Ezreal shoots a target at max range, the Klepto delay required to prevent his Q from solo triggering the effect is anything more than 0.575s. So, rounding up a bit for clarity's sake, we're looking at a minimum delay of 0.6. Less than my original suggestion of 0.75s, so I'll adjust my suggestion.

This would also suck for those supports with really fast cast times on an ability (Zyra W comes to mind) as they'd have to actually hold off AA'ing for a split second after using those abilities.

It's not even like they can't, since they have done special cases before, ex. Yorick pets are special cased to not apply item 3116

If they make him have to do this that makes the game inconsistent since his Q is technically an auto. Just adjust how frequently Klepto can go off.

just take off on hit effects on Q and would literally make EZ balanced.
